Can't play most videos on Android - Chrome on windows/mac works

I cannot play most videos on my Galaxy S8, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy TAB3 pro. It seems to be a problem with the audio format:

 

If i play TV Show with stereo mp3 audio everything works. As soon as i try to play a video with 5.1 audio (DTS/DD) the screen stays black and the controls fade out and the timer does not start.

 

I attached both logs "works" with a working file, "doesntwork" with a file that does not work ... 

 

Is it possible to force audio transcoding (to stereo) for mobile devices?

Hi, try lowering the in-app bitrate setting and see if that makes a difference, thanks.

I tested with 3 MBit/s and 720p. Just tested with 480p and 420kbps - no difference

 

The stereo files does work with 30MBit/s.

 

The media server has a gbit/s uplink and my home 250 MBit/s. Speedtest on the phone reaches about 200MBit/s.

 

Any other hints?

I'm not really sure. Try a plain mp4 with just h264 and aac, see if that works as a baseline.

ok - seems you were right. I randomly picked one of my TV Shows and used ffmpeg which is installed with emby to convert the file in different formats.

 

I tested in three places: Chrome on Mac / Chrome on Android / Emby App on Android. Only Chrome could handle all files on all platforms.

 

After that i reseted the emby app ... and everything works now.. Thank you and please close this thread.
