localhost / app.emby.media - branding css?

i'm a bit confused about the different emby browser gui options and how they work.....

for example, if i launch the emby gui from my desktop using the server icon (browse library), the url address i see in the bar is - http://localhost:8096/web/home.html...moreover, the css changes i've made to the "branding setting" are visible....

but if i use a browser to launch the emby gui, i.e. if i navigate to the emby website and sign-in, the url address i see in the bar is - app.media.emby/... and the css changes i've made to the "branding setting" are not visible....

the thing is, i can't use the emby server icon to launch emby when using a networked pc given i've installed the emby server on just the "main pc", not on every pc... and if i use a browser to launch emby on a networked pc, i'm unable to do so by entering "http://localhost:8096/web/home.html"in the address bar, which returns a blank page, i have to sign in, which gives me "app.media.emby" gui without the css changes....

so how do i get a networked pc, without an emby server, to css changes? thanks!

When users connect to the Emby domain they will expect an Emby experience. The CSS feature allows for untrusted content. We have no way to filter it, monitor it, etc.

Therefore, we do not want users to visit app.emby.media and see something inappropriate and potentially associate that with Emby. That is why we do not load your custom content over app.emby.media. You will just need to use the local web app.

I've already introduced you to the Emby Theater skinning system. Eventually both apps will use this and we will have a catalog of approved and trusted skins that this type of thing will be allowed for. Thanks !

um, obviously i wasn't clear, not if you think i'm asking how to go about changing emby's domain to my liking, which everyone who visited and/or logged onto emby would see....

what i'd like to know is how to get a networked pc, without an emby server installed, to see the same localhost emby gui (with css changes) that can be seen using the "main pc" which has the emby server installed... is the only way to accomplish this is by installing an emby server on every pc from which you want to see the localhost gui? thanks!

yes you did, and it's a cool feature, played with it quite  bit, but i'm finding that the browser experience is a much more liquid, snappy, experience than the app experience, not sure why?

speaking of browser vs app, are there any downsides to using the browser gui vs an app, in terms of audio/video quality? thanks again!

Connect to the Emby server using the IP address of the PC running Emby.

So it could be, for example,

http://192.168.1.150:8096/web/home.html

Replace 192.168.1.150 with the IP address of the PC running your Emby server.

Yes.  Browsers have limited playback format capabilities and will, therefore, tax your server more with on the fly conversions (depending on the exact format of your media).
