Brad303 0 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I looking for clarification on how Emby handles trailers. I've found a few confusing references, but would like to get it straight. As a long-time MB supporter, I can install Trailers plugin. Does that simply show trailers in the Trailers library (New & Upcoming in Theaters, on DVD or Netflix), or does it enable trailers for my existing content? Several posts have mentioned that Emby automatically streams trailers, yet only a handful of my movies have trailers (I assume they're the local ones nabbed by Couch Potato). If I want to download local trailers, what's the best way? I've found a couple of python scripts that will do it, but figured that'd be the sort of thing that was available via the interface. Where do trailers live within the movie folder? In MovieTitle/MovieTitle-trailer.mp4, or in MovieTitle/trailers/MovieTitle.mov, or are both valid? In the latter case, can there be multiple trailers? And if so, how does Emby handle them?
Luke 42083 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Hi, it does both browsing trailers and enables trailers for existing content. We are working on changes that will help us dramatically increase the number of titles that we can match trailers for. We do not have trailer downloading, but if you download them on your own, then you can learn how to name them here on our wiki: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Trailers Let us know if this helps. Thanks !
Brad303 0 Posted July 16, 2017 Author Posted July 16, 2017 (edited) Thanks, Luke. I always forget about the wiki. I assume the trailers plugin will defer to local trailers if they exist? Is there any way to have the plugin search for a minimum resolution? Are there any plans to support multiple trailers? I doubt there's a huge demand, but it might be a nice thing to have... Luke 42083 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Correct, yes, always defer to local. And we already support multiple trailers most people probably don't realize it. As far as resolution goes since we're talking about streaming, the intention is for this to just be automatic.
joshhuggins 22 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 ...And we already support multiple trailers most people probably don't realize it. What would be the correct naming convention for multiple trailers using the -trailer extension method in the same folder as the main media? -trailer01.mkv, -trailer02.mkv? TIA
joshhuggins 22 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 That's working great, thanks Luke. Is there a way to disable streamed trailers? I would like to only use local ones.
Luke 42083 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 No but your local trailers will always take priority over internet trailers.
