mrfaulk 10 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 any reason (or advantage) to install the emby server on each networked windows box? i installed and configured the emby server and app on my main pc to test it out, give it a spin, and when it proved to be great i went ahead and did the same on another networked pc, i.e. i installed the emby server and app... but when the server configuration didn't go as smoothly on the second pc, i uninstalled the server in order to try again with a clean install, only to realize that the app on the second worked fine without the installed server given it used the server on my main pc... so, again, is there any reason to install the emby server on other networked pc? thanks!
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 unless you need a second server for - say beta testing - you only need one pc with emby server pick a pc/server that is on more than the others and/or under utilised - but have sufficient power to transcode (if needed) all the apps/clients/browser will pick up the "emby server" on the network if you have more than one server - you can swap between then from the apps etc If you do have more than one server make sure you turn off metadata saving on one server to stop overwriting changes from the other - if looking at the same media
