hlribeiro 0 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Hi all, I'm currently an XBMC user trying out mb3 for the first time after having heard many good things about it. I can say I'm pretty impressed with what I have seen so far, but I came across an issue: I live in Brazil and many of the movies on my collection have their names on my language (Portuguese). It looks like none of these had their info scrapped at all, which makes me think that mb3 tries to match the titles parsed from the filename just against original names. Is that indeed the case? If yes, a suggestion would be trying to match the parsed name at least in English plus the language configured on the options, of course if that is different than English. As a comparison, the same media collection is currently being used on XBMC and all movies have been recognized correctly regardless of the language used on the filename. To be honest, a good number of movies with names in English have also not been recognized, but I guess there might other topics talking about that already so I'll take a look around before creating a new one. Thanks in advance.
Luke 42077 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Specific examples are the best way to for us to help. Thanks.
WWWestern 94 Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 hlribeiro, see https://github.com/MediaBrowser/MediaBrowser/wiki/Library-Structure for standard structure and naming considerations. Each movie must be in its own folder named in English like "The Wild Bunch (1969)". File name does not matter. If the metadata is not found automatically, enter the index (TMDb Id or IMDb Id) in the editor, save and refresh.
hlribeiro 0 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Hi, thanks for the response and sorry for the delay in responding. I do have all my movies in separate folders, however as mentioned sometimes their names are not in English. Here's an example: Os.Vingadores.2012.1080p.BluRay.3D.Half.SBS.x264-INFERNO.DUAL-BKZ The above name is the Portuguese version of "The Avengers". I'm not sure which services you use to scrap data from, but typing "Os Vingadores" did return the correct titles both on IMDB and TMDb, for example. To be honest, typing IDs manually is exactly what I look to avoid when looking to use programs like mb3 ) I've taken a look at the suggested URL, but it doesn't really confirm if the titles are expected to be in English. Based on what you said, I'm assuming that is the case. Would you mind confirming? I'd be happy to fill out a new ticket on github for this to be eventually implemented, if there is a wish to do so. Until that time, I'm afraid mb3 is unfortunately not for me. :'( Thanks!
Luke 42077 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 i think we can test search results against their alternate names. Notice the alternate name list on the left hand side: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/24428-the-avengers i can look at that for the next release.
Luke 42077 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Can you test this on the latest server just released? I feel as though it should already work. it is probably not a language issue but maybe we're just not stripping all of that other junk off of the search name.
hlribeiro 0 Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Luke, I think you're quite right. I'm running the server on Linux so cannot test the latest build...however, I've done a test on the current and created a folder a dummy file inside it: drwxrwxr-x 2 xbmc xbmc 4096 Feb 24 22:03 Se Beber, Não Case (2009) -rw-rw-r-- 1 xbmc xbmc 0 Feb 24 21:57 Se Beber, Não Case (2009).mkv That's the Portuguese title for The Hangover. Result: it correctly parsed and mapped to IMDB tt1119646, which is the correct entry. That makes perfect sense since I mentioned many of the titles in English have also not been recognized. As you said, this indeed looks more like a name parsing enhancement request than anything else. Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks for your help.
Luke 42077 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I would just wait a day or so until i have a new linux build up. then post some results. i'll do some testing as well when i get a chance.
