So I didn't know where to put this as it's potentially OS agnostic.  I have been providing movies for years to my family in a home by borrowing their iPad for days on end and converting movies and putting them on the iPad, then having an HDMI cable they plugin from the iPad to the TV.  Besides being klugy, this iPad is getting old.  Thought if there was a good way to transfer movies to them thru a USB stick, plug it in, then when they are done, bring another one and remove the old and plugin the new and off they go, that would be ideal.  Found a couple Android boxes that would do this, however I came from a WMC world and all my movies are VC-1 WMV 8kbps moves at between 6 and 8 GB in size.  All those android solutions stop playing after a while.  Vendors think it's size limitations and propriatary Microsoft codec.  Is there any solutions for running Emby off network, where I could put a bunch of movies on a USB stick, and maybe some art files, and have that come up automatically the next time the device is on?  Interested in if Emby could support this and any suggestions/pointers to devices I could buy to set it up on.

Note I think things like the Dune HD Solo Lite could partly do this, so would prefer to keep the price in the $200 or less range if possible.  if there is a killer solve for this that is more, open to consider it.

Thanks.

Yeah, started to think I didn't write off network based on your initial response.  They have no internet access.  Guessing that killed it?

Thanks.

Could i suggest if you have access to a laptop plug it in to the tv. plug in a air mouse which is cheap and it doesnt need to be a powerful laptop. one that has wifi and hdmi, small amount of outlay could setup a great usable setup.

Theres lots of devices around, i hope i am not too far off point
