jriker1 21 Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I had an existing movie I updated and before doing so deleted the entire contents in the movies destination folder that Emby knows about. Then uploaded the new movie file. To my surprise when going thru the web interface all the images were still there. So I re-identified and it updated but still no mobies IN the movies folder. Did Emby move the cover art, and actor pictures and the like elsewhere on the hard drive? Thanks. JR
Luke 42086 Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 I would check your settings for that library in emby library setup. Make sure you've enabled saving metadata to media folders.
jriker1 21 Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 Thanks. Checked it but not sure if it will update things or only new items. Since I never change these things is this something that would have changed from an updte that came thru? Thanks. JR
jriker1 21 Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 So where did it stick all the images before clicking the checkbox to keep with the movie? Which by the way didn't do anything for files already known to Emby. But maybe it has to do a full media update. JR
Luke 42086 Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 Under the server's metadata folder. Anytime you change those settings it only applies to new media going forward. It will not do any mass migrations for existing files in the library.
jriker1 21 Posted July 8, 2017 Author Posted July 8, 2017 (edited) So how do I get rid of the content and have it re-applied in the right place? I do not like anything other than things outside my control on the C: drive. Right now looking at 420MB which isn't horrible in the metadata folder, but would still like to make sure everything is following the same way for all my content. Have a bunch of "chapter" content in there also and not even sure what it's for as I have no way to get to that content but maybe it's because I'm only using EMBY on an XBOX 360. Thanks. Luke 42086 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 You would have to refresh the content and choose to replace all images and metadata. Chapter image generation is off by default so the only reason you're getting those would be if you enabled it.
jriker1 21 Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 (edited) Thanks I'll try it. For reference, I never enabled and checked, chapter genation is off. So no clue how those chapters were generated other than I've been using Emby for a long time now, way before it was Emby. Can you delete the entire metadata folder and regenerate or will that cause issues? Thanks. JR Edited July 9, 2017 by jriker1
Luke 42086 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 You can delete the folder, however nothing will happen as a result of doing that. It just means that whatever images you had in there will no longer be available. If you want to re-download metadata for something then you need to do it as mentioned above.
