Cast & Crew Gone?

not sure what happened, but cast & crew images now show up as colored blocks, no images... if i click a colored block the image appears, as if refreshed, but clearly i don't want to have to do that for every cast/crew member for every movie.... i've restarted the server and refreshed the library several times to no avail... the only thing i've done since it was working correctly was install / uninstall a few plugins to test... installed and removed the trailer and iptv plugins, installed and left the set box plugin....

Did you happen to customize the server's metadata path, and if so, did you or some process happen to delete the contents of that path at some point in time?

you know what luke, i did experiment with the metadata path setting.... didn't like how everything was saved to the movie file folder, so i deleted those entries and started again, leaving the metadata path blank this time around, which resulted in emby storing metadata in the emby appdata path, which was perfect for my needs... then, for the heck of it, i created a metadata subfolder in the movie file folder, pointed to it as the path in emby settings, and scanned again, resulting in emby dropping metadata iinto that location, but apparently it wasn't complete, even after several rescans? perhaps i needed to start from scratch again, recreate the library, for the new path to work correctly? rather than do that i just deleted the path in emby settings, which pointed to the subfolder i created, rescanned, and all is good again, emby appears to be again referencing the metadata in the emby appdata path which i left intact...

 

gotta say, i'm lovin' emby, much, much more than the other two i tried, still playing around with it but, for my needs, which is really just a movie file eye-candy front-end, it seems absolutely perfect...

 

still need to figure out a few things, for example movies seem to take an unnecessarily long time to load after selecting play, and jumping forward or backward also takes a very long time compared to other brands i've tried, could be an emby settings thing i haven't figured out?

 

also, there are a few cosmetic things i would like to tweak on the android app, found the xml system files that seem like good candidates, but after editing/saving they are immediately/automatically replaced with original files, haven't figured out how to get the edits to stick, even if it's just until the next emby update...

For cast & crew it sounds like maybe you just changed the setting and did nothing else, which is fine, except the metadata files were sitting in the old location. that's probably why you lost images. I would suggest at least moving the People folder.

 

What files are you referring to for android? There isn't really anything you can customize on the server that will heavily affect the android app.
