Scanning Library Stalling at 69.2% ???

Hello All,

I just recently upgraded the computer system I am running my EMBY server from.  The new computer is must faster and much more powerful than my previous computer.  My media is contained on 5 external USB hard drives.  I do have quite an extensive library of movies & TV shows but the previous computer had no problems scanning the library.  I did a fresh install of EMBY on the new computer and have it all set up the same way it was on the old computer.  I've set up all the folders for my library so naturally EMBY has to scan them all in order to get the media set up.  However, I can't seem to get the library completely scanned.  The library scan keeps stalling at 69.2%.  I have left it alone for 2 days hoping that it would eventually finish, but to no avail.  I have checked all the computer settings to see if there might be something turning off the USB drives or something and cannot find anything.

Anyone have any ideas what I can do to complete the scan?  Almost half of my media is missing!!!

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!!!

I'm sorry...I'm not quite sure which file is the server log...is it the last one in the folder?

If so, how do I attach it to post it here?  I tried to copy the contents of the file and post it as a response here but it stalled everything...

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Everything looks normal here, I don't think the scan is stuck. You installed the Roku Thumbnail plugin, and at that time you were told that library scans would take longer. It looks to me like it is just taking longer.

To improve the performance of the library scan, consider removing the Roku Thumbnail plugin.

I second that. Turn off your image extraction in each of your libraries and the roku thumbnail gen .. When I converted my library over I was still scanning 3 1/2 days later - looked in the logs and found the majority of time and messages were coming from the image extractors (Roku and Chapter) .. Turned them off / restarted and it took about 18 hours initially ; and now about 14 minutes for a full scan. You can turn them back on after the library build; and/or have them run only in the scheduler on non prime hours. Best to just have a scheduled event rather than running them per detection - but its all a matter of taste and necessities. If there is something that I really want ready right away (which is rare) -- I will go into the scheduled events and kick it off myself ; otherwise I just let the scheduler do its thing.

Well it has moved a bit, but not much...it's now at 70.3%...in 24 hours, not much progress...

I'm not all that good at this, but I'm pretty sure I do not have chapter extraction turned on...so I have to assume that it's the ROKU thumbnails part that is slowing everything down...funny because I had the ROKU plugin installed on the previous (way slower) computer and it never caused anything like this to happen...

So, if I want to remove the plugin until the library is done scanning, how do I go about that?

Soooooo much to learn!!!

Thanks for being patient with me and thanks in advance for your help!!!!

You can always stop the scan, remove the  plugin, then restart the server and run a new scan.

OK, so I have done that...I removed the ROKU plugin, and have restarted the scan...so in less than an hour it has reached 70.2%...

I will let it carry on to see if it completes more quickly...

Just a question though...I access my library on my TV via my ROKU...having un-installed the ROKU plugin, does that mean that EMBY on the ROKU will not display my library properly?

I am assuming that once the initial scan is done, if it ever does complete properly, I will have to re-install the ROKU plugin for "IT" to complete successfully???

I "REALLY DO" appreciate all your help...and thanks again for being patient with an old man trying to make sense of all this!!!  :-D

No, you will be fine on Roku. The plugin is only intended to provide an optional feature. Did you not get that or did you have the impression that it would be required in order to use Roku? Thanks.
