Heinrich 1 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Really struggling with this one. The regular BluRay are fine (all 3 movies) with nice metadata. But then each movie has an extended version on two blurays. That's 9 different movies. I want them sorted Fellowship of the Ring Fellowship of the Ring Extended 01 Fellowship of the Ring Extended 02 I can manually manipulate the art for what I want. But I can't get the Extended metadata to pull in and I don't know how to display the titles visually as above. On the server I have it named The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring - extended Part One The Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring - extended Part Two etc They are in a collection Lord of the Rings which works. It's only pulling random Lord of the Rings artwork for the extended versions (and I can fix that, but it just shows it's not grabbing the specific movie info.) Fellowship of the Ring Extended 01
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Are the movies in separate directories? On the TMDB there is no "extended" version listed - hence why you are not getting "different" images etc e.g. https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/120-the-lord-of-the-rings-the-fellowship-of-the-ring - is the only one listed i have the same blu-ray sets I combined the part 1 and part 2 into single movies and got rid of the "theatrical" versions You dont have to join them if you use the naming convention wiki as emby will threat the movies a "one" if you want both version i would set up two collections and have the movies in separate directories to keep the metadata separate If you want them in one collection amend the sort title to something that will sort them in order and change the "Display settings" option in the metadata manager for the collection(s) so its sortname not release date(default) Have fun
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Ideally you should combine parts 1 and 2 of the extended version with mkvmege. This puts them kn a single MKV file. As for the extended vs theatrical versions, since there isn't separate metadata I suggest the following: Name the files to indicate version \\SERVER\MOVIESHARE\The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)\The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).mkv \\SERVER\MOVIESHARE\The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)\The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) [Extended Edition].mkv The text in the square brackets is ignored by the scanner when identifying the movie. This will give you 6 movies in the web UI. Use the image selection tools to choose appropriate posters that show extended\theatrical to you satisfaction and the metadata manager to name them clearly. Put them in separate collections for theatrical and extended versions. If you want a step four you could pause to wonder why you would EVER watch the theatrical versions over the awesome extended editions Edited July 6, 2017 by Deathsquirrel
Guest asrequested Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I wasn't aware of the bracket usage. That's great info. I just used separate folders, manually edited the metadata and cover art and locked it. Then collectivized. But I like your solution
Heinrich 1 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Thanks for the ideas guys. I tried like 3 different things but none worked. Is there a place that I haven't been able to find that documents the exact specifics of what the Sort Title, Original Title, and Title fields are used for and when - and what happens when "metadata" is updated / searched?
Guest asrequested Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 As there is no distinction between them, I'd suggest edit the metadata and lock it. That way it will never change/update.
zigzagtshirt 55 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I gave up on trying to get the meta data pulled in for the extended versions. They are the only versions I have so I just manually identified them as the regular versions.
