mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 when using the emby browser gui, the poster card footer background color (circled in yellow below) is a nice complimentary color/shade for all posters, that nicely matches the rest of the emby color scheme... but when using the emby android app the footer background color varies in color from poster to poster, i.e. orange, green, different shades of blue, etc., what's going on with that? at first i thought the different colors indicated genre or something of the like, but that doesn't seem to be the case - how do i get the android footer background colors to all be the same like the browser gui?
mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 speaking of poster card view, why doesn't it stick when i select "genres" from the top tabs? in fact the "genres" page doesn't have view setting options as does the "all", "favorites" and "collections" pages.... nor do the "suggestions" or "trailers" pages...
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Yes this bugs me as well - personally i want no coloured cards - which i can do in chrome but does not follow to the android app But all the apps at the moment are being aligned so some features have not got to the top of the list yet If you want i would check to see if its already a feature request if not then create a new thread in that sub forum and if it gets enough interest then it will get closer to the top etc I thought this was a better answer than "Not possible" which you have had a couple of times now
mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 I thought this was a better answer than "Not possible" which you have had a couple of times now ha ha, perfect! Yes this bugs me as well - personally i want no coloured cards - which i can do in chrome but does not follow to the android app But all the apps at the moment are being aligned so some features have not got to the top of the list yet If you want i would check to see if its already a feature request if not then create a new thread in that sub forum and if it gets enough interest then it will get closer to the top etc. not at all interested in the color cards either, hard to tell what the thought process was behind them, perhaps a stab at making the layout look android tv-ish, who knows... anyway thanks for mentioning the feature request section, i'll take a look!
ebr 16185 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 The color of the cards is extrapolated from the colors in the main image. It should be quite complimentary actually. Do you have a screen shot of what you are seeing that you don't like?

Do you have a screen shot of what you are seeing that you don't like? extrapolated from what main image? can i change the image to something else which would force the card colors to change to a uniform color? here's what i'm getting, i suppose it's attractive to some, but it's distracting and unappealing to me, the movie posters have plenty of colors on their own, not sure why more colors need to be added, i mean it's not as if each movie poster is a blank icon with text....
PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 yes if they were black or transparent would be a much cleaner look IIRC it was done because it was possible and somebody thought it was nice! @@ebr - you can override this in the web app by using css - any plans for this sort of user customisation for "android" based apps?

PenkethBoy 2068 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Nope - trial and error - read the CSS sub forum if it does not work on android clients - without a hack - then not much point
Happy2Play 9782 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 most likely.... re css, is there a tutorial re what exactly can be changed in emby using custom stylizations? i'm familiar with working with css files/code and html having customized a couple of forums in the past, kodi skins even... then again, my primary emby use will be android (shield tv rooted with full android), so not sure if i could benefit from emby's css function.... mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 I would look and the CSS forum. Unfortunately no customization carries over to any other app. now that i think about it, my android is rooted so i can access/edit system files, as such wouldn't i be able to edit emby files, albeit they would most likely be overwritten on updates?

App or web client almost all system files get overwritten. Custom css never touch the original file.

The colors are pulled from the images you see there. Notice how the card color matches (for the most part) either a highlight color or an overall color from the poster itself...?
CBers 7451 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I like the coloured poster cards, they look great. Although, I feel some people should watch their media instead of spending their hours titivating the look 1
mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 (edited) Although, I feel some people should watch their media instead of spending their hours titivating the look kinda makes you wonder why mc developers even bother with poster art and other eye-candy, instead they should just provide links to the movie files and be done with it given, you know, that's what it's really all about, watching the media! mrfaulk 10 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 We could do an all text layout. promise not to use colored font?
