Rumbaar 13 Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 I'm running 3.2.22.0, as of today, but was running 3.2.20.0 when I processed these media files. I've found that the ratings are showing up as "PG mild supernatural themes", so EMBY doesn't see that as a defined PG rated film. I had this for a R rated film as well. What setting has changed, or can I change something to ensure it's just the base rating, so parental features work correctly? I have MCM pre-processing the media for metadata. But that is, for I can see, correctly assigning the base PG rating meta data to the media.
Luke 42086 Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 We are not doing that, unless that data happened to come from MovieDb or Omdb, but I haven't seen that happen before. 1

Rumbaar 13 Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 We are not doing that, unless that data happened to come from MovieDb or Omdb, but I haven't seen that happen before. How can I tell which source my EMBY is referencing? Are you still using MCM xml files? MCM has a option for that. Yes, I think I am. But I was under the impression the MCM option was to append that type of data to the media description (which I've checked is off). I'll have to check the XML files directly, as the MCM front end UI only shows the correct "PG" rating as assigned. Though to the best of my knowledge I hadn't updated MCM or change any options for it to change the way it's recording.
Rumbaar 13 Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 Okay so I took a look at the movie.xml that MCM created and it has the following within the file. <ContentRating>PG</ContentRating> <MPAARating>PG</MPAARating> <FormalMPAA>Rated PG for some mild rude humor and mischief</FormalMPAA> <certification>PG</certification> I guess I'll have to go and ask MCM why it's creating the FormalMPAA like that. Is there a reason why EMBY is using that tag as it's source? But I can't confirm the others weren't also the long form, as I adjusted within Media Manager in EMBY. But haven't run a cache refresh.
Luke 42086 Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 adding @@Happy2Play for inpu I think because back in the day if we didn't use that field then some would not have any ratings show up. However at this point xml is a legacy format now with a small audience so if you guys want to change it i think that is fine.

That being said, MCM must be populating something else or it's being taken from somewhere else. As I've check all old movie.xml files and that FormalMPAA section is populated and EMBY hasn't taken those details in the past. I use MCM as it correctly catalogs, moves and names my media files. I can try and see if the XML file isn't created and leave EMBY to populate that contents. Though I'm not sure if EMBY handles local (Australia) rating systems? I've had to globally adjust them all in the past.
