BigGoose62 71 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 When viewing movies, the sort title is not being recognized when attempting to sort alphabetically. For example, the movies Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights have sort titles of "Shanghai Noon 01" and "Shanghai Noon 02" respectively. But they appear in the order of Shanghai Knights then Shanghai Noon. So the actual title is being used over the sort title. This is happening for all my movies, but not in my documentaries folder. Also, when using the Sort feature of the Web App, roughly half of the options do not work. I used to be able to set it to sort by Date Added Descending and I could see all my movies starting with the most recently added. But now that doesn't work. It just puts them in alphabetical order. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Luke 42081 Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Are you sure they have custom sort titles? where is this happening?
BigGoose62 71 Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Are you sure they have custom sort titles? where is this happening? Yes, I am sure. I had to redo my entire collection's custom sort titles after the 3.2.19 issue. And since then I have verified that the sort titles are correctly saved. And they are, but they aren't being recognized for some reason. This is only occurring in my movie library. I have several other libraries that I have set up, and they are sorting correctly.
BigGoose62 71 Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Furthermore, the sorting of movies within individual collections is working correctly. Any ideas?
ebr 16185 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Are you positive the view in question is set to sort by name?
BigGoose62 71 Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Are you positive the view in question is set to sort by name? Yes, when viewing the "All" tab for my movie library, I have the sorting set to Name-Ascending. This displays by the "Title" and ignores the "Sort Title." Is there anywhere else to change the sort settings that I can check? And as I posted originally, several of the other sorting options are not working correctly. The Date Added-Descending was something I used frequently, so I know this is a recent issue. Thanks for your help!
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) On a clean install using your example from first post, everything works properly. So your issue is a metadata or database issue. My guess a database issue from the issues in previous version. Personally I would use the Backup plugin to capture userdatata and delete and rebuild your library.db, then restore userdata. I was hoping there'd be a simpler fix. But I will be looking into this when I get time this weekend. Thanks for the help!
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 @@Luke may have a better idea but I think the damage may be done in some cases.
BigGoose62 71 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Can you show a screenshot? thanks. Here are some screenshots. Thanks for helping. 1) Shows the incorrect order of Shanghai Noon & Shanghai Knights 2) Shows Shanghai Knights with a Sort Title of Shanghai Noon 02 3) Shows Shanghai Noon with a Sort Title of Shanghai Noon 01 4) Shows Anchorman 1 & 2 doing the same thing, as well as Angels & Demons not following its Sort Title of "Da Vinci Code 02" 5) Shows Austin Powers 1-3 doing the same thing 6) Shows the start of my movie library with sorting set to Name-Ascending 7) Shows the start of my movie library with sorting set to Date Added-Ascending. Notice it still sorts alphabetically. Changing it to Date Added-Descending starts with my collections and then Z-A. 8) Shows that sorting by Runtime-Descending still works
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Is you metadata nfo or xml? Testing sort order on my beta machine everything is sorting properly by selected option. But I have rebuilt my library.db a couple times since the issue. Sorting appears to be functioning properly on my stable build also.

ebr 16185 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Just for kicks, try changing the sort titles to: shanghai noon a shanghai noon b
BigGoose62 71 Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Just for kicks, try changing the sort titles to: shanghai noon a shanghai noon b I should have mentioned that I did play around with that. I tried different letters and numbers. But nothing is recognized. Good idea though
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Only other thing I could think of is removing those two movies, performing a library scan, then re-adding and scanning again. But to me it sounds like a database issue.
