OompaLoompa 1 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 I'm using Emby to keep track of TV shows I have recorded via a standalone PVR. Typically these shows would not have any metadata (local sports/news etc) At the moment they are mixed in with other TV Shows which is quite messy. Is it possible to create a library item that will be displayed separately in Kodi? If that is not possible a sub-folder containing the Recorded TV items will suffice.
Angelblue05 4132 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) You are probably using the default Kodi tv menu which displays everything type "show". See this to change your home shortcuts imgur album for shortcuts. There are some already created for you via the emby add-on (if you launch the add-on, you'll see what I mean). Otherwise, you can create your own shortcuts in Kodi, using tags. The emby add-on tags all your movies, tvshows using the emby library it belongs to imgur album for playlists. OompaLoompa 1 Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) Thanks for your reply, but I'm a bit lost here ... let's take it step-by-step: >which displays everything type "show" Correct. In Emby Server I have created a separate library item called "Recorded TV" of type TV. In Kodi it's all lumped together under TV Shows. >See this to change your home shortcuts I've created a shortcut pointing to Add-On->Video Add-On->Emby->Recorded TV->Recorded TV but that (a) doesn't solve my problem described above and (b ) shows weird numbers instead of titles/file names. If I select just "Recorded TV" (without the second "Recorded TV") then it kinda works - shows all the options which I drill down into and then file names display OK. Angelblue05 4132 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) Ok, what you did is correct, the numbers happen when the shortcut type is incorrectly detected. Can you tell me what the shortcut is? It should start like ActivateWindow( Edited July 2, 2017 by Angelblue05
OompaLoompa 1 Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 (edited) OK, I think I got it using playlists. Thanks for the help. I had to modify the "TV Shows" shortcut to point to a playlist as well which eliminated the duplication, Edited July 2, 2017 by OompaLoompa 1
Angelblue05 4132 Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 You can do pretty much anything with playlists using tags. Since your content is directly integrated into your Kodi library, you can use extra filters provided by Kodi when you create smart playlists.

I have the same issue while creating my menus items for my "Workouts" as they are the type TV Shows, but I like to separate them.. When you put a shortcut to a Add-On->Video Add-On->Emby->Workout->Workout, I also have numbers instead of shows. It's pretty annoying. You can do things with playlist, but it's long and cumbersome to configure as I like the categories like Recently Added, In Progress, that the adon populates by itself. I usually put them as widgets, So I need to recreate all theses playlist.. If I use other plugins I can't mention here, when going to Add-On->Video Add-On->"Some plugin"->TV Shows->Top Rated and put them as menu item or widget in kodi everything is fine.

inkubux 7 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) Thanks I will try that. Is there a way to make it "automatic" like some sort of mime-type in the addon ? Edited August 23, 2017 by inkubux

That's how I did it before I found about the other post you answered: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50248-library-nodes-are-to-deep-for-many-skins/&do=findComment&comment=479876
