Modify Season/Episode after watching

Hi,

I have a couple of shows that dont match due to incompatible file name

eg

Eastenders_20170626_200000.ts

This file does appear in Up-Next and i can watch it, it then gets removed from Up-Next and everything at this point is good

To keep my library tidy, at some point i want to give this episode its correct Season/Episode

This is where things start going a little odd

I use an external tool to update the nfo, so i update the nfo for the above as S33E100 (i do not rename the file, just update nfo)

Emby then reflects these changes, this is all good

However, this episode now appears in Up-Next with a watched tick mark on it, seems to be confused about it being watched, if i do a restart of the server, the episode is unwatched

Should it be possible to edit the Season/Episode and retain the watched status of the item?

I can get logs next time i do the above steps if needed

My guess it the episode is unidentified when you watch it and after providing the proper identifers Emby pull the metadata it uses to track watched status (tvdbid) so it remains unwatched since Emby actually knows what it is now.

Thanks for the info

As well as having a tidy library, i also use trakt so want to keep this updated

Any thoughts on how (or if its possible to achieve the following)

Leave the episode how it is with no metadata (this works fine but obviously no updates to trakt as episode no known), so i can watch the episode without having to correct details at time of watching)

At some point correct the episode details, for one or many episodes, which would then hopefully sync to trakt as the details are now known

just trying to think of an easy way to keep things updated without having to manually correct things immediately after recording the show

Thanks

For episodes we correlate the user data with season and episode numbers. Once those values change, the user data will be lost, so that is why you lost the watched data.

The fact that it was initially retained after the change is simply a defect of it being cached in memory for too long. We will look at that. thanks.
