Marc_G 95 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Hi folks, For the last week after my Win 10 Emby server box took the latest MS updates, whenever I try to connect from a different PC to any folders on that server that are shared (specifically, a movies or TV folder), I'm prompted to enter credentials for access. IT never used to do this, at least not after the first time I entered them. Sp, if I'm at my Win7 desktop, and I try to access my main Movies folder (like, to move content to there), I have to put in my Win10 server login information. I select remember credentials. But next time there's a reboot of apparently either server or desktop PC, I have to re-enter them. How do I stop this? Thanks Marc
CBers 7450 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 You could try deleting your credentials in Windows on each PC. Goto Control Panel and search for CREDENTIALS. Not sure if it'll work, but might. Are both PCs in the same HOMEGROUP and/or WORKGROUP?
Marc_G 95 Posted June 25, 2017 Author Posted June 25, 2017 No home group set up. Just started after recent win10 update. Will investigate credentials when I get home later. New or reset setting in win10 must be at root. Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
CBers 7450 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Can you connect from your W10 PC to your W7 PC? Might just be share permissions.
Marc_G 95 Posted June 25, 2017 Author Posted June 25, 2017 OK, interesting. On the server box, in network/sharing, Change Advanced Sharing Options, All Profiles, "Turn on password protected sharing" was enabled. That's weird. It was one of the first things I did when setting up the PC, to turn that off. And I was in that menu about a month ago on unrelated business and it was still off then. Since it was now turned on, apparently by a windows update, it was verifying my password for any new access. Grr. Should be sorted now. Thanks for the help @@CBers. I did check my credentials and as expected based on what I reported above, my Win 7 desktop has credentials for the server, but the server has no credentials to access the desktop (because the desktop has always been "off" for password protected sharing). I may need to delete the credentials, present on my win7 box, so they don't trip up access to my now credentials-unneeded server. Thanks :-) Marc 1
