runtimesandbox 171 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Is there a guide on how to setup intel quick sync on windows server 2016 anywhere? I can't find anything in the wiki. The server has an intel core i5 4000 series so i believe it should support it. Is a special version of ffmpeg required?
Luke 42080 Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Hi, have you checked out our transcoding wiki? https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Transcoding
runtimesandbox 171 Posted July 2, 2017 Author Posted July 2, 2017 Yes... All i see on the wiki is The hardware video decoder setting allows the use of the following options: Intel Quick Sync NVidia NVENC Open MAX (OMX) VAAPI This should only be enabled if you have the appropriate hardware and may result in errors otherwise. If you're unsure, leave the setting at Auto and the system will attempt to automatically detect this.
naeonline 27 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Your Server install needs to be on the hardware directly and not in a VM for best compatibility (some have reported to get QuickSync working through VMWare VMs, but I haven't messed with VMWare in a while and Hyper-V VMs don't give direct access). Also, ensure that the Video Drivers for the Intel Graphics are installed and up to date. Lastly, make sure your emby install is the latest version.

The server is installed directly on to the hardware, no hypervisor etc Everything is on the latest version. Is a special version of ffmpeg required? I know the one that ships with emby is slightly older. @@Luke if I enable it I am then unable to stream anything
Luke 42080 Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 Best thing to do is see how to report a problem. thanks.
