Subtitle issues over WAN

Hi

I'm having problems with Emby Theater (latest version) on my laptop when travelling. Subtitles dosnt work when connecting over WAN When trying the same episode in the browser (Mozilla or Chrome) the subtitles work. If i connect to my VPN and then setup Emby Theater to use the internal IP instead of my subdomain that points to my home the subtitles work.

Can you please discuss the example a little more? For example, I started playing video X, I then went into the subtitle menu and activate track Y. I expected A to happen, but instead I saw B.

Thanks !

Using Emby Theater on my laptop outside of our local network is the use case. Laptop is running Windows 7.

Emby Theater pointed to https://emby.mydomain.com everything works except subtitles. Subtitle is ticked but not visible.

Emby Theater pointed to https://emby.mydomain.com but VPN'ed into my local network. Subtitle is ticked but not visible.

Emby Theater pointed to http://local-ip-of-server. VPN'ed into my local network. Subtitle is ticked and visible

Emby Web from Firefox pointed to https://emby.mydomain.com. Subtitle is ticked and visible

Emby Web from Chrome pointed to https://emby.mydomain.com. Subtitle is ticked and visible

At home i have 2 mediacenters running Windows 7 and a desktop PC running Windows 10. All 3 works with subtitles and there Emby Theater is also pointed at https://emby.mydomain.com

EDIT: My router is setup to do hairpin NAT (NAT Loopback)

External subs for the ones that dosnt work. I just tested an episode with internal subs and that worked over WAN...

@ have you seen this?

All my subs are muxed. Tonight, I can make an external sub and test it.

I've just tested on stable and beta servers, using my android phone with the app, on my 4G mobile data. Subs worked in each test.

I think he meant Android controlling emby theater.

No, I was using the Android app to play. My apologies, I wasn't able to test directly in Theater with WAN.

I was just thinking about this. I didn't think of it, last night, but I can isolate my HTPC behind a VPN. That should allow me to conclusively test this. I'll retest it tonight.

Are you using your own ssl cert, or the server's default self signed certificate?
