georgewill76 14 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Hi I was wondering if when creating a library and I setup the library not to save metadata and artwork into media folders where do the NFO files get created/stored? I have not created a custom path for my metadata as I prefer the system to use the standard location, which in this case would be AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\metadata\library. The reason for this is that emby is setup on my servers main ssd and my movies/tv shows are stored on regular hard drives so want to keep my info on the faster ssd. If no NFO files are created does all the movie/tv information just get stored in the database? I can see the movies images and chapters stored in \metadata\library but there are no nfo files. If I choose the option to save metadata and artwork into media folders I can see it creates an NFO file.
One2Go 120 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I would also like to know the answer to these questions as I am in a similar situation nor wanting to store the NFO files in my media location.

As mentioned in other posts if you don't save metadata with media, all metadata is stored directly to the database.

Thanks for pointing us into the right direction. The NFO files can they be edited or is that too risky? I presume the Data base can't be edited or is too risky to mess it up? Can certain items of the Data Base be modified using the meta data editor so that it basically reflects what manual editing should have achieved? The reason I am asking, I find that some meta data is either incorrect, incomplete or missing in the sites that are being scanned as sources.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Everything in theory should be edited via Edit Info or Metadata Manager, and the next Library Scan should pick up all changes. Not positive if you don't save info with media is changes are reflected without scan. Is there something that is wrong and not available via Metadata Manager or Edit Info?
One2Go 120 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Is there something that is wrong and not available via Metadata Manager or Edit Info? Well I use Edit Info and Metadata Manager extensively if I don't get the expected results from the Library scan or I change the episode pictures because after I watched a TV episode I found a better one for remembering the episode content. In the Edit Info I have selected the studios for the media but they are no longer displayed in the WMC.
