acnp77 67 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 On my Iphone (IOS 10) Safari Browser I tried to listen to some music away from home. The IPhone is always on, no automatic screenlock. But no matter what I do ("Play all from here" or "Shuffle" or "Instant Mix" or "Play Album") it never plays more than one title. Latest Server-version installed. Very frustrating. Any Ideas? Cheers
Luke 42085 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Just tested on iOS 10, no problem found. This is only going to work if you keep the browser in the foreground at all times, including the browser tab that the Emby app is running. That means you cannot allow the device screen to turn off, you cannot switch to another app, and you cannot even switch to another tab in the same browser. If you want a better solution, use the Emby iOS app. You will need to submit feedback to Apple to allow background music playback if you want this to work better in the browser.
acnp77 67 Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 thanks for your reply. screen is always on, browser is on foreground at all times, the emby-tab is the active one at all times. problem remains. I put the phone on my table to test, just in case something happend while the phone was in my pocket. "submit to apple" what does that mean? please explain. I dont want to submit anything to apple, and I do not need background plackback. I just need foreground playback to work. A reasonable request I think. cheers
Luke 42085 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Ok, I cannot reproduce the problem I am afraid. It is working fine here in my testing, but I will continue to test it. Thanks !
acnp77 67 Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 ok thanks. Can you please let me know what "sumbit to apple" means? Submit my playlist? or what? cheers PS: would jailbreaking the phone make any difference?
Luke 42085 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I meant submit feedback to apple to improve music playback features in the browser. No, I am testing on a pretty stock device running iOS 10.
acnp77 67 Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 thanks for your time and effort. last question: that means I can use the app without having apple spying on my personal data like music content and playlists... ? cheers I'll let you know if the app works for playback.
acnp77 67 Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) emby ios app: I can log in to my server. I can browse content. But when I hit "playback" It either crashes. or nothing happens at all. BTW: Movie playback workes... Edited June 19, 2017 by acnp77
Luke 42085 Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I am not aware of any playback problems with the iOS app. Please see how to report a media playback issue. Have you seen recent feedback from other users relating to music playback in the iOS app? This is really great - I'm so glad this has finally been resolved, so well done. Working great now in iOS 1.3.7. Even when app is running in the background and when the device is locked. This is the proper behavior for a music app in iOS or on any mobile device. Verified the app music play issue is resolved after ios app update. Thanks a lot for the fix! Therefore, it's not really fair to say "does not work". Please make sure you're running the latest release of Emby Server. Then, if the issue persists, please provide the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks !
acnp77 67 Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) @@Luke OK- seems you managed to provide an ios app that even continues playback when the device is locked. People seem to like it. My apologies. After upgrading to the last server-version it now works for me too. Thanks! Very much appreciated! But I still can not understand that basic functionality breaks if ur not on latest server version all the time. And the releases come quite often... But ok I will just have to see to always be on lastet version. CHEERS (Any way to donate to the project? I already have a "lifetime" licence) Edited June 19, 2017 by acnp77
