smokey7722 15 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 it won't be scanned multiple times Ah cool, so it just references it and since it sees its been scanned it will use the already created data in the cache/db? Thanks for the quick response!!
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Would be nice to have a "Copy Default Library" when setting up users. Then you can add or remove as needed.
smokey7722 15 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Would be nice to have a "Copy Default Library" when setting up users. Then you can add or remove as needed. That would be. Either that or maybe you create a selection of locations one time. Then when you go into each library and add only the ones you want from a list of the previously entered ones. This way there is no duplicate typing or configuration. You can have the server scan everything based on adding the locations but then you are really just giving "access" to each of those locations to each user. Its something like AirPlayIt or AirVideo does in regards to assignments like that. To go even further, it would be awesome to have say TV Shows added but then for a specific user/library, to pick one subfolder of TV Shows. So that user/library would only have access to that one show, vs the entire collection (and I wouldn't need to add that one shows folder as a location by itself). Honestly I am happy that we can do this in MB at all so I am not being picky - just saying the way they do it is a little easier and allows for permissions as well. 1
smokey7722 15 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Heres my scenario: Admin User: uses default library with everything available User1: has select media, lets say TV Shows only User2: has select media, lets say Movies only Right now from the documentation and implementation I have been able to figure out, the only way to get User1 and User2 setup to only have access to the TV Shows or Movies locations is to add those locations into their own library. This however from the looks of it requires the MB server to scan that folder twice though, once in the default library and then again in subsequent libraries that it may be contained in. Is this the way it is currently designed to work or am I missing something obvious? If this is the way it works right now, it would be great if there was an option to select certain folders or locations from the default library so they don't have to be rescanned multiple times. Thanks as always for a great system!
