Corteq 5 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 For the last month or so the Maximum Allowed Parental Rating has been ignored. I have a user setup as Kids and want only movies rated up to PG (New Zealand Ratings) to be available. This was working well for about 6 months. Has anybody else experienced a problem here? @@Corteq
Luke 42083 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 hi @@Corteq, can you please provide a little more information and discuss an example? Why do you feel that it isn't working?
Solution Corteq 5 Posted June 14, 2017 Author Solution Posted June 14, 2017 hi @@Corteq, can you please provide a little more information and discuss an example? Why do you feel that it isn't working? I seem to have solved this. I created a different ratings file, restarted Emby Server and it worked. I figured Emby was not reading the file properly and needed to reload it, I presume into a cache. I'm not sure why this happened, but I have tested it over the past 24 hours and it is behaving correctly.
Luke 42083 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 What do you mean ratings file? You mean like an nfo file for a video?
ACB 5 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I am also having this issue (and am in NZ), having just setup a kids account last week. @@Corteq how do you create a different ratings file?!? I'm keen to get this working asap.
Luke 42083 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 @@ACB can you please describe what your exact issue is? thanks !
ACB 5 Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 @@Luke I setup a new user (who is a 11 year old) and set his permissions to NZ-MA. However, when he logs in he still sees movies like Aliens (which is rated 'R'). I've refreshed the metadata for both movies and tv series in Emby (as was described in another post) but still those movies are showing in his list. I tried setting Aliens to NZ-R as I thought might be a regional issue, but that still showed in the list. This post look promising, so am interesting to try creating a new ratings file (however you do that!)
Luke 42083 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 can you show screenshots to demonstrate why you feel it isn't working? thanks !
Luke 42083 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Actually we don't have an NZ-MA, so that would be why. if you change the content rating to NZ-R it will work. We can add NZ-MA for a future update. thanks.
ACB 5 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Actually, I just checked and it's set for NZ-M (not NZ-MA). I found this article here which looks helpful -> https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/48532-german-parental-control/?hl=ratings Which basically suggests: stop emby delete <windows_user_folder>\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\localization\ratings-de.txt start emby I'll give that a go when I get home (obviously with the NZ equivalent file) and see if that sorts my issues. If not I'll be posting some screenshots and logs. :-)
ACB 5 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 @@Luke ok found the answer to my problem... the NZ ratings file looks like this: NZ-G,1 NZ-PG,5 NZ-M,9 NZ-R13,7 NZ-R15,8 NZ-R16,9 NZ-R18,10 NZ-RP13,7 NZ-RP16,9 NZ-R,10 For some reason it has NZ-M as a 9, which is the same as R16?!? NZ-M should be a 6, similar to the Australian rankings (AU-M,6). When I deleted the ratings file and restarted EMBY, the recreated file was still a 9.
Luke 42083 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 They came from a community member, so I'm really not sure. When I deleted the ratings file and restarted EMBY, the recreated file was still a 9. Expected behavior.
ACB 5 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 They came from a community member, so I'm really not sure. I think that community member was confused as I'd say it's at worst a R13, but M in NZ is technically not an age related rating, but is upto the parents to decide if it's appropriate. https://www.classificationoffice.govt.nz/find-ratings/new-zealands-classification-labels/ I will just change manually mine to a 6... and let you duke it out with your standards community :-)
