Jobber8742 9 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I spent a long time defining sort titles for movies to make sure sequels and remakes all show up in the correct order, then yesterday, out of nowhere, all of the sort titles were deleted. Any ideas of why this happened?
d00zah 149 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 On reading this thread, I went & checked my music library where I have been using SortTitle extensively to force album collections to display in MY desired order. While the desired order is still being honored, the field is now blank wherever I've set it. Wasn't there a discussion in the Dev forum that indicated that v3.2.17.x exposed a DB field that doesn't (shouldn't?) appear in the UI? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/47971-321720-sort-title/ Currently running server v3.2.20.0... updated from v3.2.19.0. I see nothing related in subsequent changelogs, except maybe 'Improve database performance'.
Luke 42083 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 There was an issue in 3.2.19 that will no longer occur in 3.2.20, thanks.
d00zah 149 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) But you haven't answered the initial question... why, having been set, are they now blank? Is this expected? As I stated, mine 'appear' to still be honored so I'm guessing they remain in the DB but are no longer exposed? What impact on future entries? CORRECTION: While the question still stands, further investigation shows that only SortTiitles entered after the bug was introduced, but before the fix, show as blank.... but still honor the order. BigGoose62 71 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I'm also having issues with this. Movie Sort Titles that were set and "locked" before the bug now show as blank when viewing them through the web browser. They are also not followed. For example, the Jurassic Park series displays as Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, Jurassic World, & The Lost World. That order is 1, 3, 4, 2. The .nfo files still contain the Sort Title info (Jurassic Park 01, Jurassic Park 02, etc.), but they have a bunch of extra 0s. Only by manually going in and editing the sort titles does it seem to fix it. Please tell me there's a better way than to go through my entire movie collection and fix all the Sort Titles that were supposedly "locked"

Most of the metadata deleted all of my custom sorts, but a few of them still have sort data with a bunch of extras 0s. I went through and manually changed about 100 last night. There are still a bunch I have to do yet. I am on server version 3.2.20
Luke 42083 Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Apologies for the inconvenience. There was an issue in 3.2.19 that has been corrected in 3.2.20.

Thanks for the reply Luke, but my server is currently on 3.2.20, but my files are not in the correct order unless I manually change each one.

Jobber8742 9 Posted June 14, 2017 Author Posted June 14, 2017 Unfortunately that is because of those extra zeros that were added by 3.2.19. Ok, does that mean I do have to continue to fix each one manually to get it to display correctly?
BigGoose62 71 Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Unfortunately that is because of those extra zeros that were added by 3.2.19. Is there a way to prevent this in the future? Since I lock all my titles as soon as I've set them up, they shouldn't have been altered.
390x99xdsa 6 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 You have a data-destructive bug in a release. If you have any decency you'll push out the FIX immediately.
bfir3 117 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 The 3.2.20 release is already out, thanks. There should honestly be a news post or announcement that indicates the major issue in 3.2.19.0. I would have fucking hated it if I spent hours manually updating sort titles only to find them all reverted and unrecoverable due to a bug in a "stable" release server version. I really feel so bad for all those who were affected by this. It really sucks.
