Hmm.. I'm not I follow exactly.

You don't have to refresh the library.

You should be able to move your copied db file(the one with the fingerprints only) back into the data folder, and that will start your detection task from the start.

So by copying the db file back it clears any detection that's been done already, is that correct?

You only need to refresh metadata if you want to create new chapter markers after you have edited start and end points in plugin config.

Thumbnail extraction took only 1 sec, check with the Emby app on my Shield, chapters are there but no chapter thumbnails.

All the chapter points are already added.

Can you do a RefreshMetadata (do not enable Refresh Images) on just one TVShow and Rerun the Chapter service.  Let me know which TV Show you refreshed and send me the log.

This is looking much better now. 
Only I still don't see the thumbs in the Emby app, is there a delay?

Yes much better.  you need to look at the Thumbnail image extraction task after the Chapter insert task as per my last post

It's still only 1 sec, the image extraction doesn't seem to do anything.

I have copied the db file back to run the detect task from scratch. The task finishes immediatly and the log is throwing up these errors. I guess that means I've done something wrong and there's an issue with the db file and I have to run the FP task again?

That image extraction comes from the core code.  I think that you are missing a setting in the Library Manager.

 

Then scroll down the page until you find the heading "Video Preview Thumbnails"  - I bet yours is set to Never

I hope you are testing on small library of about 300 episodes.  You shouldn't be testing on Main system just yet because of the time it takes for fingerprinting.

That was it, Thumbnail image extraction task is now running, 15% and counting.

For me with 400 episodes FP wasn't the issue with around 45 minutes, next step was around 2,5 hours. Is that to be expected?

on the version you are runnning .... Yes. 

We are currently testing a performance improvement between us and hope to have a release soon.  If we are happy it should reduce the detect time by around 50-70% we think.

But, the plugin should have permission to save the .bin file where we are trying to place it.

@Cheesegeezer , @samuelqwe it would seem like the fingerprinting task is having an issue here saving the .bin. 

The Binary Reader is trying to read the .bin, but it isn't where we expect it to be.

I think ive got it running! As @samuelqwe helpfully mentioned it seems like the binhex version of Emby is missing some features but when i then swapped over to the official Emby docker I think i managed to mess up the permissions as it defaults to a different UID and GID.. So I started again, used the correct backup / restore method and set my UID properly on install and its currently working away! 

 

Looks like thats done it, might be worth highlighting that the binhex-emby docker isnt going to work due to the chroma issue with ffmpeg.
