Cerothen 97 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 When there is a playlist of episodes and the last episode in the playlist ends if the last item isn't the last episode in the show it will play the next one in the show. When the end of a playlist is reached playback should stop even if the play next episode is on since technically your at the end of the series when the end of the playlist is reached.
Luke 42077 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I don't quite understand. Can you elaborate a bit more please? It's supposed to play them all in order, right?
Cerothen 97 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) The first screenshot below shows that I had a playlist where the last episode was American dad season 5 episode 4. Once the playlist finished Emby then decides to take the next episode in the series and keep playing them as you can see from the next two screenshots. This is fairly recent as I have been making bed time playlists for a while but it's only been doing this lately (last week or two). It happens when using the web app or android app to cast to the Chromecast. Please let new know if I wasn't clear enough or you need more information. Thanks for the great app Edited June 12, 2017 by Cerothen
Luke 42077 Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I'm afraid I still don't understand. Why not just turn the feature off then?
Cerothen 97 Posted June 12, 2017 Author Posted June 12, 2017 @@Luke, let me ask you an question which may frame the issue. How can I play a few arbitrarily identified episodes and have it stop playback at the end? Eg If I wanted to watch S03E04, S03E05, S03E06 of American Dad (which has way more episodes than that) and have playback stop at the end. Using this as a few episodes I want to put on to fall asleep to, If I turn off the "play next episode automatically" I have to start the next episode each time which as you can likely imagine is annoying if I am trying to fall asleep. If I leave the play next option on then it will play the rest of the episodes in the playlist then whatever the last episode in the playlist the next episode in the series will play, this means that the disks in my array will not go into an idle state for the entire night since the only end point to the playing is the end of the series. Thanks again for your time,
Cerothen 97 Posted June 15, 2017 Author Posted June 15, 2017 Any advise here, it only changed recently originally it worked as I would have expected it to (eg end of the playlist is the end of playback)
Luke 42077 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 End of (now playing) playlist is always end of playback. I really don't understand what you're saying there. As far as workarounds, if you keep the setting on then you will need to stop manually. We will eventually have one of those "Coming up next" overlays towards the end of playback, for both the web app and theater. it has been planned for a while. You could also try turning it off and starting playback using the "play all from here" function.
Cerothen 97 Posted June 15, 2017 Author Posted June 15, 2017 Then perhaps its a bug that's been introduced, I'll come up with some reproducible methods and submit my findings
Luke 42077 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 I can see how that would happen if you clicked on the last episode manually to play it.
