Scan media library removes movie primary image

Hello, I'm running Emby Version 3.2.17.0 in a Debian container in Docker. Everything works fine, except for this topic: for movies, the first run didn't pick up most movie posters, so I was left with a bunch of thumbnails. I can manually  Right Click -> Edit Images -> Primary magnifying glass -> pick an image and select a new image. The image sticks through refreshing the browser, restarting the browser, restarting the PC, etc., but even if I just update the image and immediately run the Scan media library scheduled task, it'll reset the primary image back to the thumbnail.

I also tried Metadata Manager -> Media Folders -> Movies -> {select a movie} -> Refresh Metadata -> click "replace all images" checkbox -> Refresh, but it has the same result. I tried locking the metadata by going to Metadata Manager - > Media Folders -> Movies -> {select a movie} -> scroll to the bottom and click "Lock this item to prevent future changes" although that also doesn't survive a scan media library.

One interesting note, movies added after the original scan have the correct primary image.

I haven't changed the default cache or metadata paths and I have the "download artwork and metadata from the internet" library checkbox checked.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

EDIT: the poster is still on the filesystem. I can go to the media library (/var/lib/emby-server/metadata/library/......) and see poster.jpg with the same permissions as all the other files, although it doesn't appear via the UI.

hi @@abedious, when you say it gets reset back to the thumbnail, is this thumbnail sitting inside the media folder next to the video?

Hi Luke, no, the thumbnails seem to be going somewhere in the /var/lib/emby-server/metadata path. I can prove that by downloading any poster and using the find command to find any files updated in the last minute, and I see the thumbnail I downloaded. I have the media mounted as read only - could that be the problem?

Are there any images stored with the media?
