I don't know if this is the right forum, but I have moved my emby server from my HTPC to a NAS.  I am now looking at removing my Windows HTPC altogether.  What is the "best" or most featured\developed Emby app?  I was looking at a Roku or Fire, but I currently have been playing with the app on my Xbox One.

We design them to be as consistent as possible, so all of them :)

Having said that, the new Roku app is brand new and we are working hard to make sure it supports all of the same features as the other apps. Enjoy.

Thanks   Are any of the devices better from a performance perspective in regards to transcoding?

ET or Kodi should be the most compatible with direct playing media. AndroidTV is probably the next best option. I personally use Roku's for my basic setups because I like the UI and Roku's are pretty bullet proof. For my dedicated home theater I use Kodi with the Emby for Kodi plugin where I want the best possible playback experience with no transcoding and perfect playback. I do have an Nvidia Shield TV in my home theater room too but I find I hardly use it but it does work well.

Do you use a WIn10 PC for your dedicated home theater or something else?  I'm trying to steer away from a "large" box in my theater space and go with something cleaner.  The Xbox works ok, but can be a little sluggish in navigating live pc stuff.  I'm hoping one of the other devices works a little better.

The Shield TV, but why are you concerned about transcoding?

The Shield TV with the Android TV app installed, should Direct Stream 99% of your content. It does mine.

I have an Intel NUC for my HTPC and even though it is a few years old now but still works quite well. I think the general consensus is something with an i3 or Celeron CPU in it is more than enough for media playback. I run LibreELEC on it which is a minimalist Linux OS with Kodi on it. If you are looking for something that is ready to go and doesn't require tinkering or setup I would recommend the Shield TV as opposed to any htpc whether it be running ET or Kodi.
