treason 11 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Hey All, I'm making an offline "kodi media player" for use in my car. To do this, I'm copying some movie folders to an External HDD, then I will attach the HDD to a raspberry pi running LibreElec. Since this is an offline install, the kodi sync plugin won't work. I plan on just using kodi's native metadata service to pick up the content from the HDD. Unfortunately, most of my imagery is not picked up by kodi. I guess the naming conventions are different? For example the kodi wiki says it's fanart.jpg, not backdrop.jpg Nevertheless, I looked at the XML in the nfo file, and noticed they are all using absolute paths. <art> <poster>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\folder.jpg</poster> <fanart>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\backdrop.jpg</fanart> <fanart>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\backdrop1.jpg</fanart> <fanart>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\backdrop2.jpg</fanart> <fanart>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\backdrop3.jpg</fanart> <fanart>E:\Movies\Kids\A Christmas Story (1983)\backdrop4.jpg</fanart> </art> Why not <poster>folder.jpg</poster>? Are relative paths bad for emby, would relative paths work in kodi? Is there a way to bulk edit the xml to use relative paths? Any tips to make emby produce metadata that is totally compliant with kodi? Thanks
Luke 42080 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 I didn't realize relative was supported. it's something that could be looked at for a future update. thanks.
treason 11 Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 I don't know if relative paths are supported, I'll post back once I confirm
Solution treason 11 Posted June 11, 2017 Author Solution Posted June 11, 2017 Relative paths made no difference, had to rename the artwork: To make the media folders compatible with kodi, you need to Movies: duplicate folder.jpg to videoname-poster.jpg duplicate backdrop.jpg to fanart.jpg TV: duplicate backdrop.jpg to fanart.jpg duplicate folder.jpg to poster.jpg season/folder.jpg to season1-poster.jpg in tv show root from season/metadata to season/filename-thumb.jpg
sualfred 677 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) ? Emby already uses the correct names for videos: Movies: - banner.jpg - clearart.png - disc.png - fanart.jpg - landscape.jpg - logo.png - poster.png Shows: - banner.jpg - clearart.png - disc.png - fanart.jpg - landscape.jpg - logo.png - poster.png - season%i-poster.jpg - %epsiodefilename-thumb.jpg Extrafanarts (no native support by Kodi yet, but skins can access them via various methods) - %folder/extrafanart/fanart%i.jpg Edited June 11, 2017 by sualfred

It sounds like he has some old mediabrowser 2 metadata files hanging around.
