Harblar 29 Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 More specifically only one type of subtitle I found so far. I have several (4 that I've found so far) movies that use the HDMV_PGS_SUBTITLE codec. Why, I have no idea, but they are the only ones that force the movie to transcode. (when the subtitles are activated, anyway. when not active they direct play just fine.) Is this a known issue/problem with that particular codec? Any workarounds or ways to make it default to external subs on these particular movies?
Harblar 29 Posted June 7, 2017 Author Posted June 7, 2017 I will when I get a chance. I'm not near that pc atm. :-)
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Are you using the desktop version or the Windows store app? The latter should require transcoding for PGS subs.

Deskotop, and all of my PGSSUB subtitles work fine. Only HDMV_PGS_SUBTITLE subtitles force a transcode. I'm not sure what the difference between the two codec's is, but there seems to be one.
Harblar 29 Posted June 8, 2017 Author Posted June 8, 2017 Luke, here's a copy of a transcode log. Movie direct played fine till I turned on the subs then it started transcoding. Turn them off and it goes straight back to direct play. transcode Log.txt
Luke 42078 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 Try refreshing this title from the web app detail screen, see if that changes the subtitle codec to just PGS.
