Some actors disappearing from TV Show

Hi, I running latest Emby Server on Windows 10. I noticed about some months ago that Emby is not automatically pulling thumbnails for -some- of newly added actors. Not sure if something is wrong on my side or if it is Emby' expected behavior.

Then I try to enter on each actor page on web client so Emby pulls its thumbnail, thats ok. The problem is, on a few times when I enter the actor page, Emby pulls the thumbnail then when I go back to the Series page the actor is just 'gone' from the Cast!

Sometimes I did'nt noticed that or couldn't recall the actor but when I do I try to refresh info but no way of the actor gets back to the Cast.

If it matters, I'm adding some Anime stuff and I'm using the Anime plugin. Namely one of the cases is Sayaka Ohara (Erza) one of the main voices of Fairy Tail. Even if I delete all *.nfos for that serie and refresh my library Emby won't pull the cast again.

This happen when Emby pull a different spelling for the actor from the metadata providers, so there is a mismatch between actor folder name and name in metadata Title field.

You have to delete the cast member from your metadata\People folder to allow Emby to try and get the actors from the nfo again.  So you have to compare the spelling for actors in nfo to the spelling of People folder and people metadata.

Right on the spot. There were 2 folders for the same actress. 'Sayaka Ohara' and 'Sayaka Oohara'. The first is naming from TVDB, tha last is from AniDB.

Should I stop using AniDB provider since it happened other times?
As for other actors missing like that, what would you recommend to fix it? Delete all 'People' nfo's and refresh people?

It is a grey area @@Luke is looking at.  The only real fix is ensuring episode metadata actor spelling and People folder and metadata title spelling are the same.  Some just require that manual intervention right now.  (so comparing 3 places episode.nfo actors spelling, metadata/People folder spelling, and people metadata <title> spelling)

Most of the provider metadata is community driven so you could update the website that is wrong.

I think I got it.

The problem lies on the romanization for japanese names. I think (I'm not an expert in japanese) AniDB uses modified Hepburn while TVDB uses the traditional one. Then it comes the confusion, I realized that if a cast member won't get its thumbnail automatically its name is diferent on above mentioned providers.

It seems that setting priority for TVDB as provider and performing a refresh solves the issue. The only thing that annoys me in TVDB is they use american voice ators for Anime there were dubbed in english, it doesn't make sense as most people prefers the original ones.

After a further investigation I realized TVDB is also just broke when it comes about name variants for cast.
When the name is different than the one from TMDB it might disappear from the Anime entry.

My last hope was using JUST TMDB to provide metadata since it has all what is nedded but episode list. But when I did that Emby pulls artwork stuff, IDs, metadata... but no cast at all... wich is weird because they do have the cast members info for every TV Show.

So, while there is no way to get a proper solution for Anime like other regular US TV shows I gave up.
