sonny_life 2 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 (edited) Hello, I'm new to this community, so forgive me if I put this topic in the wrong place. I can't find in the settings where I can manual force specific encoding to the subtitles, so I guess this is automatic process within emby server. So I'll try to be as brief as possible. The subtitles are in srt format and the language is Bulgarian (cyrillic encoding). Subtitle name is something like this movie_name.srt (the same name as the movie). I tried different econding settings within my server, but with no luck. So this should be somethin withing the emby server. So my next step was to enforce somehow emby server to recognize them as cyrrillic subtitles. I put .bg at the end so the subtitle name became movie_name.bg.srt Now the subtitles are recognized as Bulgarian, but there is no change in the encoding. Yesterday I came up with a workaround, which is ok for now, but I'll be happy if you correct it in the next version of emby. The work around was simple, instead of .bg I put .ru, so the subtitle name became movie_name.ru.srt The subtitles are now recognized as Russian and there is no problem with the encoding. My current version is 3.2.17.0 Best, Edited June 3, 2017 by sonny_life

svetlio359 0 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Hi i test it Put .bg. in sub file and it worked Just want to know why is this necessary to be done Sent from my WAS-LX1 using Tapatalk
Luke 42079 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Identifying the language helps the sever determine the encoding.
svetlio359 0 Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 thank for all but a have one more question is it there a way to force server to determine the encoding. without renaming a sub files thanks
sonny_life 2 Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 Hi i test it Put .bg. in sub file and it worked Just want to know why is this necessary to be done Sent from my WAS-LX1 using Tapatalk It's faster that way, because it loads only the necessary encoding files for the desired subtitles. If you have more than one language files, you'll see them by name in the app if you rename them that way. For example .bg.srt .en.srt and so on.
sonny_life 2 Posted September 12, 2017 Author Posted September 12, 2017 thank for all but a have one more question is it there a way to force server to determine the encoding. without renaming a sub files thanks No, as far as I know.
