Not reading watched data from nfo since 3.2.15

I have a problem since 3.2.15 I think.

When editing an nfo file or renaming a file my Emby server does not detect this change. Neither automatically nor manually via the 'refresh' option.

I also have a renamed episode which still plays fine from Emby even if the change was not recognized.

Hi there. please discuss some specific examples and accompany them with the information requested in how to report a problem. thanks !

So here is the latest log file after I manually tried to refresh one tv show episode and one movie I recently added.

The episode was renamed and I changed its nfo metadata manually after adding it to the library

The nfo file of the movie just got its watched status updated.

All of these changes were detected in split seconds from Emby before automatically.

Manually refreshing the metadata also worked for me.

Now both files metadata just stay the same.

Just upgraded to 3.2.19 aswell but the problem persists.

How exactly and where are you measuring that data hasn't refreshed?

The changes do not show when browsing the library. For example the watched status just stays at unwatched and the episode file is not renamed aswell. At least this is not shown. The media path still shows the old name aswell.

In what Emby app?

Anyway if it is Emby for Kodi I have pushed a compatibility update for the plugin based on something I saw in your log. So try that. Thanks.

Sorry for explaining this so complicated.

The changes are not shown in the Emby webserver and of course all apps do not show the changes aswell (Kodi, iPhone etc.)

The pictures show the info of the episode when it was added to the Emby database.

The episode was named S05e01 and the nfo file had no info such as plot or the actual name of the episode.

I then updated the nfo file (with plot, episode name, aired date etc.) like I always do with MediaElch and renamed the episode to S05E01 (capital 'E')

But these changes are not recognized from Emby anymore. Even the path does not show the new episode file name 'S05E01.mkv'.

As you can see in the second picture it still shows 'S05e01.mkv'

This always worked for me and I did not change any settings in Emby for a few month now.

I got this issue since v3.2.15 I think

Can you please take a look at this again?

I still got the same issue with 3.2.20.

Here is a part of one nfo file from one of my movies:

What I just did with MediaElch was changing:

playcount from 0 to 1

watched from false to true

add the line last played time stamp

and just added 'TEST' to the plot information

When refreshing the movie manually in the Emby webserver the plot updates accordingly with 'TEST'

But the movie does not change its watched status.

This worked before without any issue.

hi @@Marv, we do not read watch status anymore from nfo files. This was changed a couple months ago. It's causing too much troubleshooting for us. Too many people have external programs that update the nfo, remove the watch data, and then come to us wanting our help in determining why the watch data was removed from Emby. We had to put a stop to that, so it is not done anymore. Let us know if this helps. Thanks.

ok thanks for explaining.

At least I know now how to deal with my nfo files from now on :)

We will probably allow that again via hidden config switch, but we can't put it back in the UI. It just causes too much troubleshooting for us.

But all other aspects of reading nfo's are supported just the same as before. Thanks.
