Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Hi, Chapter images do not show up for all my tv series. They do for movies and all other media including tv recordings. I can't find another app that shows the chapter images to diagnose any further. Let me know what other info i can provide
ebr 16187 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Did you enable their extraction for TV episodes? That is turned off by default because it will put a fairly severe strain on your server if you have a lot of TV.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 its enabled for that library and chapter images have been extracted for some tv series. is there a setting for this at episode level? i've checked on roku and its the same. some show up, others dont. probably needs moving to the server forum
ebr 16187 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 The ones without them probably just haven't been done yet. They happen during a scheduled task that is limited in its execution because it is so resource-intensive. If you select the option to extract them during the library scan it will do it then, but then your library scans could slow way down.
Luke 42083 Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 The time limit is probably why they are not done yet. The default schedule for the scheduled task runs nightly with a time limit of 4 hours. So most likely you either need to adjust the schedule or just wait for them to gradually get created.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 Nope it's not that. I've run the task manually. New media, just added today, has chapter images.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 So I answered the blindingly obvious, is it plugged in / turned on. Is it possible we could get some slightly deeper analysis?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Looks like it is time to post a log after adding a new episode thas been scanned it your library. I current don't see any issues with episode chapters.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Is that going to help though? These are old episode for which chapter images are not displayed. They are created for new media. What will a log show?

What will a log show? So does refreshing the episode or season create the chapter images? If not then the log should possibly show why. 1

Luke 42083 Posted June 4, 2017 Posted June 4, 2017 Under the server's cache folder there is also a file called chapter-failures.txt. It contains a list of files that caused ffmpeg to raise an error while trying to extract images. The server will never retry these files unless their date modified timestamp changes. (e.g. file is replaced with newer version).
