Path Substitution headache

I'm new to emby, but not to Kodi.  I was setting Kodi up on a new firetv stick and decided spur of the moment to use Emby to manage my library on this install, with the hope that I could maybe upgrade my other two firetv Kodi installs.

My libraries can be found on my Unraid server, so I installed the docker version 3.2.17.0

I then installed the kodi app following the instructions on the website.

Once I reset the kodi install, it started processing my library update, but said something about not finding the network shares.  After the library updated, when I click on one of the videos it says that it is not available.

I suspect this is because I haven't set up the path substitution properly, but I confess that I'm at a complete loss as to how I'm supposed to do this.

Was I supposed to manually add my files like I would have without emby? (and then rely on Emby to keep that up to date?)

Am I supposed to edit some advanced settings xml file somewhere?  If so, where can I find this?  How do I update it?  what am I supposed to do?

Is there some setting in the kodi add-on that I've messed up or haven't correctly configured? I can't seem to find anywhere for me to input paths...

Please help.

Show us a screenshot of your library configuration including the path substitution.

Did you configure the "network credentials" at the kodi addon?

You don't need settings in the advancedsettings.xml for emby.

Maybe you can have a look at this's thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/36681-emby-for-kodi-network-credentials-and-ip-path-substitution-needed-under-libreelec-to-play-mp3s/

You need to set up path substitution in your Emby dashboard > library. By selecting each library and each path, you can set up a network path which will allow other software not installed on your server to locate your content.

If you can't figure it out, then in the emby add-on settings > sync options> set Playback Mode to add-on (default), which is guaranteed to work regardless of if Kodi has access to your paths or not. Once you press Ok, you'll have to reset your library for it to take effect. Launch the Emby add-on this time, scroll all the way to the bottom > reset local database.

Ok, I think I got it.  I added "nfs://192.168.0.192/mnt/user/Movies" in my the "Optional shared network folder" area and refreshed my library.  things seem to be working now.

@@Angelblue05 maybe the problem is the terminology? We don't call it path substitution anymore, it's just the optional shared network path for a folder.

Yes our message would need updating.
