TV Series Issues

Hi

I've been having a few struggles with getting MB3 to recognise all my media but I'm now at a stage where everything plays fine from the web interface on a PC so I believe it's correct, yet I'm still having all sorts of issues trying to get my NowTV box playing the same media.

In the Roku plugin, TV Shows showing on the TV bar (Latest etc) will play if selected directly from that screen, but as soon as I drop down to Media Collections and try to browse the very same shows, I just get to the top level listing all the shows, I click to select one, hear an acknowledgement sound but nothing happens. From then on, it seems the plugin has crashed as although I can navigate, nothing else will play and I can't swap users etc until I quit the plugin entirely and go back in from the NowTV front end.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

What if you go into the TV view (click on the tv shows icon up next to the latest/resume/favorites area)? Does it work from there? If not, then are we sure that it is seeing it as a TV show? Can you show me a screenshot of the folder structure? Thanks.

Hi

Nope doesn't work from the TV view either, sorry I should have mentioned that, the only way I can make any TV based program play is via those listed as "latest" in the front menu TV bar. Its as if the plugin can't navigate past the top level folder to get at the media files inside, yet if given a direct link to a video via the "latest", it can play it.

Attached is an example of the folder structure but if MB3 itself wasn't seeing them as a TV series then it wouldn't pull metadata and wouldn't play successfully in the web front end either would it?

cheers

Can I see the full folder? The rest of the contents. There should be other files in there besides the files itself. Usually there are images, etc. stored with it.

BTW you also might try at least on one of the folders, setup season folders. I'm not sure if that is the cause, but I know that was a new feature added after the release of the Roku client and not sure that setup works on it at all.

Hi

There's no other files in the media directories, all the metadata and images etc are stored centrally as per the option in MB3 Metadata settings to not store stuff in the media folders. I need it this way because the kids also browse and play the files directly from an iPad file browser via file shares so I don't want them having to fish through xml and jpg files to find the media, which is also why I don't have any season folder structure to keep it simple. The folder structure I've got is supported by MB3 though, according to the wiki and also Luke the dev who helped me troubleshoot some of the issues I had with MB3 itself (which was mostly related to file naming), and the Roku plugin is finding the tv show primary image as that's being displayed along with the season info when I go into TV Library which suggests it's finding the metadata etc I would have thought?

Is there any logging available on the Roku client side?

cheers

Like I said, I'd suggest creating a season folder at least for one series and see if it starts working or not. If it doesn't then that isn't the issue. If it does then it is. That folder structure was not added until after the release of the Roku client, so it has never been tested by me at least.

Sorry yes, I was going away to test it with folders and that does work so it seems its the root level folders with no seasons that its having issues with :(

OK, if that is the case, then it will have to be a fix down the road for the server changes. Sorry.

No problem, any idea on how long down the road that will be? :)

Unfortunately no. I have to get some free time to actually work on it again. Work has just been busy the last two months.
