Don't run tasks while playing

So I have a little Issue with Emby. I'm using it with Kodi and everything works fine. But sometimes it just starts running Schedueled Tasks while playing Videos which leads to dropped frames and unwatchable playback for me. Wouldn't be better to only run the tasks when emby is idle? Or is the only way that I manually edit every task to run at 6 am so it doesn't get in the way?

 

 

Also my "Upcoming" is empty. I'm using tinymediamanager to get my Metadata. Is there any way to get Upcoming to work with this?

@@Kiina there currently isn't an option to have tasks running only when idle, as for some users, that would mean that tasks never run, so currently yes, as far as I'm aware, the only way to do it is manually edit every task to run at 6am (or whatever) so it doesn't get in the way.  However, my experience is that there are only certain tasks that affect playback/server utilization (depending obviously on your hardware), and they are "chapter image extraction", "create thumbnails", and "convert media".  I assume "scan library" could as well, but I haven't noticed a big performance hit on that one.

 

As to "Upcoming" this is more related to your epg and not your metadata (unless by metadata you meant epg).   As far as I'm aware, you need populate Emby with EPG data, I'm unaware of Emby's integration or acceptance of EPG data from tinymediamanager.

So that means the upcoming is only if you use the "Live TV" feature? I have weekly running shows in my Database and expected it to give me a list of next airtimes for these show. So maybe I am wrong.

No, those should work.  Upcoming actually gathers its info from our metadata providers.

Is there any way to debug why upcoming is empty since month? Logs seem to show nothing related to it

For Upcoming to work you need to enable emby internet metadata features. We should probably allow it to work without it but it just hasn't gotten done yet. It is dependent on information that is created by the library scan, with emby internet metadata features turned on.

Oh I looked through Metadata section under library and couldn't find it, didn't know it was under "Manage Folders" and turned off. Seems to work great now, thank you and sorry for wasting your time with this.
