Allow remote control of shared devices

Can someone explain the function "Allow remote control of shared devices" ? (I read everthing about this I could find, but I dont understand)

 

I want to create a user for a familiy member that does not live at my place. So he will be in a different LAN.

I want him to be able to remote control the devices that are in his LAN. But I dont want him to be able to control any of my devices within my LAN.

 

For this usecase- do I need to activate "allow remote control of shard devices" ?
