Music Playback - Instant Mix

The functionality of Instant Mix seems a bit weird to me.

 

If I go into artists, browse to Rod Stewart, I see all 33 of his albums.

 

I get 2 options, Play and Instant Mix

 

If I hit play, it plays all the tracks in order of the very first album listed then seems to go into shuffle mode through the rest of the albums.

 

If I hit Instant Mix, what I expect to happen is it should play all Rod Stewart songs in a random order. Instead if adds my entire collection of 40,000 songs.

 

If this is by design then Instant Mix shouldn't be in that submenu, and maybe on the Music home screen which seems to make more sense. Why have it everywhere where it does the same thing regardless of location in your library.

 

In that submenu it should be Shuffle All. As it is now I have no way of playing all albums from Rod Stewart in random shuffle mode.

 

Playing around while typing this, it seems the options I get per artist are different, for Queen I do get Play All & Shuffle, see screenshots.

 

Any ideas ?

No, instant mix is more like a pandora station, so it will start off with something from where you started, but then will incorporate other content from your library.

I'll have to look into why the shuffle button is not there on the second screen. thanks.
