mobamoba 12 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Every file I have plays fine in the web player in Chrome except for the most basic - stereo AAC MP4 video files. These exact same files play perfectly fine in Firefox and in the Emby Android app but never play in the web player using Chrome. I've tried it in Chrome Incognito as well thinking it might be some kind of caching issue but got the same problem. I put the log in debug mode, restarted the server, then tried to play one of the files. Hopefully the attached debug log will point to a reason for this. I'm using the most update Stable version of Chrome btw (Chrome 58). Log file attached and codec information below. Luke 42079 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 What if you open a new tab in Chrome, then drag the video file onto that tab? What happens?
mobamoba 12 Posted May 19, 2017 Author Posted May 19, 2017 It plays just fine when I drag the mp4 into a new tab in Chrome. That's why I did the debug log because I knew it was a file that Chrome could play natively without any transcoding or anything so I couldn't figure out why it wasn't playing in the Emby web player.
Luke 42079 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Can you provide a sample file for testing? thanks.
mobamoba 12 Posted May 19, 2017 Author Posted May 19, 2017 Maybe you can PM about this, but could I just add you as a user to my Emby and give you access to just that folder - would that help? It's like 2 gig file otherwise. I could cut it down using a video editor but that might defeat the purpose of this somehow.
mobamoba 12 Posted May 25, 2017 Author Posted May 25, 2017 On investigating this further: there must've been some kind of change to a recent Emby update because I've narrowed the issue as having to do with Emby being behind a reverse proxy. Playback of MP4s worked fine that way until recently and also work fine when bypassing the reverse proxy and connecting with Emby directly. As I mentioned, all sorts of other files - MKVs, HEVC, files with DTS, etc - all work fine with both the reverse proxy and without. So I really can't figure out what happened in a recent update that would have messed up MP4 playback over reverse proxy but thought I'd pass this along in the hopes of fixing the bug. Thanks.
mobamoba 12 Posted May 25, 2017 Author Posted May 25, 2017 Is there anything I can do to help debug? I passed along my Emby debug logs above and I checked my reverse proxy logs (it's over IIS) and there are no errors though I'm happy to pass them along if it will help.
