seth.sanbower 0 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 I just installed the server on a Windows 10 machine. Everything works fine on that machine. On my Android phone I select connect for my server, the circle spins for 20 seconds or so and then stops. I tried typing the IP address in a web browser on another computer in our home and that didn't work either. I also tried opening port 8096 on the server machine but that didn't help either. Any suggestions?
Luke 42079 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 hi @@seth.sanbower, i would suggest checking out our Connection Troubleshooter. Please try the steps listed there and let us know what succeeds and what fails. thanks !

seth.sanbower 0 Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the quick reply. Yep I tried everything under the in network section. That's how I opened the port on the windows firewall. None of it made any difference. I didn't try anything under the external connections section since I'm just trying to connect from my home network. What else can I try? Edited May 13, 2017 by seth.sanbower
Luke 42079 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 check windows firewall and make sure no rules have been added to block mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe
seth.sanbower 0 Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 Ok, I have next to no experience with windows firewall settings. Nevertheless, from advanced firewall settings I selected "Inbound Rules." I sorted the name column and found 4 entries called "mediabrowser.serverapplication.exe" Two of them had a check mark icon next to the name. The other two had a circle with a line through it. I double clicked the ones with the circle icon which opened a properties box. On the general tab "Block the connection" was selected. I changed the selection to "Allow the connection" on both rules. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. I still can't connect to the server from the android app or from a web browser on another computer in the house. Am I doing something wrong, or maybe there is still something else I should try?? Thanks again...
seth.sanbower 0 Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 I'm still trying to figure this out. I'd really love to give leave emby a try. Any other tips?
Luke 42079 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Do you have any anti-virus or other firewall software installed. Ultimately something is blocking the connection and we need to figure out what that is. thanks.
