It seems like ever since the last update.. My metadata isnt being put in the folders correctly. Let me give an example. Previously the TV show Archer would put all the metadata for the episodes of season 1 into the metadata folder. It would be xml files but now instead, it puts only the jpg for the episode and the xml and other files appear to be going into the appdata\emby-server\metadata folder with random folder names. Below is my settings for the metadata:  Attached are the two screenshots showing my settings. Could someone help please.

hi @@BenDover, it has been like this for a long time actually, probably 2 years now. Nfo is our metadata format now. If you have the old xml, we will recognize that and read it, but we save metadata to nfo.

Well slap me silly. I havent seen the nfo's.. where do those get kept?

In your series and season folders, just not in a metadata sub-folder. Check your server metadata settings to make sure you haven't turned nfo off.

ah it is off. if it is off, what does it do for metadata? Only reason i asked is because its been off for a while and when i look at Emby theater all the metadata appears to be there, just not in a format for us OCD metadata people.

It saves nfo to your media folders, just like xml but using nfo conventions. that way if you customize changes they will be in a better place for safe keeping.

OK and just to confirm if i have the NFO settings off, its only going to save the jpg for episodes in the metadata folder? or does it save other metadata in the appdata folder?

no, that is all.

Luke,

Do you have a second for chat? I'm still stuck on this metadata. I thought i had it all set.

Can you describe your issue in more detail? thanks !

So just to clarify the metadata folder is no longer an option?

Nobody said that. Why do you feel that way?

Sure. I don't have NFO option selected. It doesnt appear that the metadata folder is being created for new tv shows any longer. Older tv shows which already have metadata in there put the JPG's for the episodes in the metadata folder. Is the metadata folder been phased out? I'm thinking there should be more files for the episodes than just the JPGs.

Then I misunderstood.  Is there a setting somewhere to save the .nfo, or image files into a metadata folder inside the season folder?

The metadata folder underneath the season folder is an old media browser 2 convention that we dropped a couple years ago. We still recognize metadata inside that folder to read it, but we don't save metadata there.

Where we do save is directly inside the series and season folders.

ah.. Makes sense. If you don't have the NFO option selected, it appears that only the jpg's are being downloaded and there is no other files.. is that correct or where would the other files be saved?

Correct.

Ok that is what I meant.  Thanks for the quick response.

Is the rest of the metadata saved in the DB?
