microent 0 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 Recently I started experiencing issues with My Emby Server and playback on the Xbox one Client app. Constanty movie playback would start and then stop almost two minutes in to the movie and the app would crash (appear to crash) and you get redirected to / return the the Xbox Home screen. I took the following steps in an attempt to correct the issue- I noticed that the Server version installed was updated and I needed to restart. After restarting the issues persist. Next I checked for an update on the client app incase there were incompatibilities with the client app. I updated the Client app and the issue still persist. I perform a full uninstall of the app on the server and the xbox one client and re-installed once more figuring there have been several upgrades at the server level and issues could be the result of multiple upgrades. The issue still persist. I chose to remove the Emby server and reinstall on another computer this time running on Windows 10. Played back from a browser worked ok with no issues as a first test. I found that some recently added movies would play ine but replaying the same movie several days later would result in the same issue - play back starts but ends before the 2 minute mark. One of the issues I thought effected the problem was the subtitle processing. I had configured Emby to download subtitles if necesary and as this was set as a default I often had to stop the movie playback and modify the settings to remove subtitles for movies that did not require it. This movies would stop playback not lon after. I started experimenting and found that if the subtitles were enabled I could watch the movies to full length without any interuptions. I reconfigured the Settings on the server to disable the download of subtitles and attempted to play back one movie in particular that this issue occurs with. The issue persits each time I started the movie. I chose to download and use Ember client on the Xbox one to see if that made a difference only to find that playback would run for an unspecified time frame and then the movie playback would stop. This time the client did not crash. I was able to skip back 10 seconds or move forward 30 seconds to keep the movie playing and without subtitles. I chose to remove and run the beta version of Emby Server - hoping a more recent version would have corrected the issue. But found no joy in getting playback to continue past the 2 minute mark without subtitles being turned on. I reviewed the logs and found some rather strange errors - on of which detailed the following : "System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" I have reviewed the forums hoping that this is something that was already solved but an answer to the issues experienced has not been found. I have turned off Firewalls, AV and looked at all possible configureration for both the server and the workstations I used for hosting the emby server application. All of the changes or tweaks have resulted in the same frustrations as playback is halted almost as soon as it is started. At this point I figured I needed to get further support as a full understanding of why this is occurring is beyond my abilities at this point. Any help that is provided will be greatly appreciated.
