How to get subtitles to show?

When I have a movie that has its own subs already ,idx file, I cannot see the option for CC when I am on the title screen on the movie, nor is the option to enable subtitles in teh pause menu at the bottom of the screen when I am playing the movie.

 

I tried renaming the file to .srt instead of idx and that gave me an option for CC which I could choose Und, but still no subtitles are showing.

You can't rename idx to srt because they are not the same format. We don't support .idx all by itself. It needs to be accompanied by a .sub file.

 

I would suggest using our open subtitles downloading feature to obtain .srt format subtitles because they are always much simpler to work with. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !

From the title screen i tried doing a search and it came back with no results.   Do I need to renname the movie file?

Not necessarily. Did you setup open subtitles in the server dashboard?
