TimFromFL 5 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I am still putting the finishing touches onto my Emby installation and I noticed a couple of things and I just wanted to make sure that I was understanding everything correctly. Since I am setting up EHS I have been moving my TV library folders around to find the arrangement that works best for my situation. I have noticed that each time I do this some shows always need to be "Identified" again. Two examples of this are The Flash and Taken both initially resolve to early 90s\2000s shows with the same name. When I notice the picture is off I go into Metadata manager and re-identify the series and everything is wonderful again. This leads me to believe that the folder is resolved to the series and any file in it is assumed to be an episode of that series. I haven't encountered it yet, but I wasn't planning on leaving empty folders on the server as I like to keep my directory structure as clean as possible. As we are coming to the end of the spring season we will probably be emptying out a lot of our shows over the summer, is the expectation that the folders must stay in place to prevent having to reresolve the series? Also since I have an automated process moving the files from my WMC recording folder and renaming them, some tag or string that I can add to the folders to make sure that they resolve correctly? One last question, Movies that are recorded from TV don't seem to be working as I expect. It seems that since it is a Movie, a lot of the UI doesn't seem to apply (there are no seasons or episodes). Should TV Movies be put in a separate area? I have my movie library locked down because i don't want certain profiles to be able to delete Movies, but TV shows and Movies should be ok. Any recommendations are welcome. Tim

TimFromFL 5 Posted May 4, 2017 Author Posted May 4, 2017 (edited) My TV Library is setup like this \TV \The Flash \Season 3 The Flash_S03E18.wtv The Flash_S03E19.wtv The Flash_S03E20.wtv I removed this directory tree from the file system to simulate it not existing anymore because I either removed the directory because it is empty or I just started recording the show Now I added the directory tree to the file system and it looks like this I then go through the process and resolve the show because it is currently the wrong series my question was that it seems to me that if I "clean" the directory structure of empty folders after the shows have been watched and are empty, I will have to do this process each and every time. Products that I have used in the past like YAMMM allowed you to append a string to the end of the name to help with the resolution issues for instance if I named the series folder "The Flash[tvdb=279121]", it will resolve to the correct entry from the thetvdb.com. I was just looking to see if Emby had anything like that or if there was another way that I was supposed to be managing my TV Library. From what I have seen so far and from others have said I need to leave the Series folder in place if I don't want to have to reidentify the series each time it is added. Is that correct? The other situation that I described was for TV Movies. My kids recorded the movie "Hoot" from TV (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/18276-hoot) and as expected it showed up in my TV Library. It is a movie but the TV Library treats it as if it were a TV Series. There are no Seasons or Episodes for it. I noticed that the TV Library also treats it differently than the LiveTV library This is from the TV Library And this is from Live TV Again, I was wondering if this was expected behavior or if there was something that I needed to do differently Edited May 4, 2017 by TimFromFL

Again any info is appreciated Well since it is already recognized as a series it has a tvshow.nfo instead of a moviename.nfo. What do you mean specify the correct TheMovieDbID?

What do you mean specify the correct TheMovieDbID? @@Happy2Play I don't have nfo files for any of my content, it is being recognized as a tv series because of where I put it in the directory structure. When click identify I can search by name or specify the correct id. I got to themoviedb.org and get the id for the movie and put it into the appropriate place and hit search, it shows the right movie, I hit ok and refresh metadata and images.
