Emby Server stops casting to chromecast

Hello,

 

All of the sudden I started having problems casting to my TV, weather I'm using my phone as my controller or the web browser on my computer.  I start casting to my chromecast and start watching the movie and after 5 minutes or so the movie just stops and I have to stop the casting and start over again.  I thought it could be a chromecast bug and I tried to use another application to cast the movie and had no problems at all so I have to assume it's and Emby problem!  Here's the log:

Theses are the logs inside my logs folder.  Don't look at today's logs because I didn't have my exterior drive connected!

I would expect that video to fail due to the 4 ref frames which exceeds the maximum recommended of 3 for 1080p. So I think for that one the answer is it should actually be transcoding. We're just being a little too aggressive with direct play in order to try and avoid the transcoding.

 

Within the next week we're going to be pushing a major update to our chromecast receiver and it will have the ability to automatically switch from direct play to transcoding when this type of failure occurs, just like the web app currently does.

Yea, so this is the same thing, with 4 ref frames at 1080p being beyond the safe maximum. This file needs to transcode. The changes I talked about that we're going to make to Chromecast our not ready yet, but they are on our beta receiver and are getting closer to release. Once we release that, then it will be able to try the direct play, and then automatically switch to transcoding when it fails. Thanks !
