390x99xdsa 6 Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 When marking a channel in live TV as a favorite, for cable channels it tends to select both the HD and SD version of the channel. Example. FiOS: HGTV HD Channel 665. Mark as favorite. Look at favorites. both 165 (HGTV SD) and 665 (HGTV HD) are marked as favorite. Unselect 165 as favorite and 665 (HGTV HD) is no longer a favorite. Favorites should be based on channel number and nothing else. If they can both be displayed in the all channels list distinctly they should be able to be independently marked as favorites. It does not happen when selecting broadcast channels like 513 (HD) 13 (SD).
Luke 42089 Posted April 22, 2017 Posted April 22, 2017 The channel user data is currently keyed by channel name, so we'll have to change that and that will resolve this. The change will have to apply to new setups only in order to avoid disrupting existing users favorites. thanks !
390x99xdsa 6 Posted April 22, 2017 Author Posted April 22, 2017 What exactly do you mean by new setups? Virgin installs of Emby server, or new tuners? Could you make so that I would only have to remove and re-add LiveTV or the tuner(s) -- at the most? Or perhaps you could add version upgrade post-install step to convert the by-name channel favorites to by channel number favorites? Or could there by some setting in an XML file somewhere that I could just go in and edit to get the new behavior? -- I don't mind deleting existing favorites and re-adding them as three copies of HGTV (SD,HD and Spanish language -- FiOS has three) in favorites is useless to me since the Emby Roku client only shows 30 max favorites anyway, so I really only get about 12 because of the dups.
fudsak 1 Posted November 17, 2017 Posted November 17, 2017 When marking a channel in live TV as a favorite, for cable channels it tends to select both the HD and SD version of the channel. Based on Luke's feedback, I found a cheesy way to get around this. I never watch the SD channels, so in the Emby guide I've gone through each one that's showing up in the favorites section and renamed them. By naming them something different enough, their algorithm doesn't match whatever was stored as the favorite.
