themimperials 4 Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Hello everyone, First off all, I did not exactly know where to put this, as I do not know where this problem comes from. Hope it goes here. But I seem to be having a great deal of problems with deleting media from my Emby server. Different ways give various results: -If I delete a movie on the Emby server running on my Synology DS216play through web interface from a computer, then it initially disappears from the library in Emby. However when I then launch my client (NVIDIA Shield) in SPMC with Emby for KODI, then it has it's database broken. If I, say, deleted a movie. The movie section in KODI is then entirely gone. If I try to go to the actual Emby addon, and access movies, I just get the spinning circle forever. Also, the movie is not actually gone after doing this, it is still right there in it's folder on the server. The Emby server just re-adds it shortly after. Then after rebuilding the database in KODI, everything is back to before. -If I delete a movie straight off the server folder structure, then it does disappear in Emby shortly after. However when I launch my KODI clients, it does not "sync" the deletion. So the item is still there in the KODI library. I guess it does this to make sure it does not wipe my entire KODI library if it loses connection to the Emby server? Not sure anyway. Sometimes I can make it go away by using the "Clean Library" feature inside KODI. Sometimes it does not remove it. So the only way I can get it away is to go and attempt to play it, which will give me the "Media cannot be found" dialog and ask me if I want to remove it from the library. What I am doing wrong here?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted April 23, 2017 Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) I'm sorry you are having difficulties. I've never seen anything like what you describe. First, don't use clean library in Kodi as it will most likely mess up with your database built by Emby. Do you use the fast sync server plugin for emby for kodi? Here is what I would do. First, in the emby for kodi addon settings, disable fast sync so it does a manual sync at startup instead (a bit longer, but would help narrow down the issue). Make sure, under advanced (last tab in settings) to set the logging to info. Then, reset your local database in Kodi. Let it rebuild. Restart Kodi (clean log), then, test deletion and post your Kodi log from that time. Edited April 23, 2017 by Angelblue05

It was really just something I resorted to when I couldn't find any other way to get my deleted movies to go away, and it seemed like it worked. I do use the sync server plugin, and have it enabled in KODI yes. I just tried part of your instructions, by resetting the local database, letting it rebuild and trying it again. This unfortunately did not solve the issue. But! I am not entirely sure that the KODI setup is the root cause here, which is why I did not put it in the KODI category(it was just moved here). The reason I say that is that I have issues already occurring trying to delete in the Emby server web interface. Do you think there might be things I should try on the server part before trying your suggestion?
Angelblue05 4132 Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Interesting, do you have your Kodi log? Can you confirm you don't have a rogue file in your Movie library root folder or elsewhere?
