arrbee99 1817 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Just wondering what you guys think is the best way to handle Documentaries ? At the moment I treat them as TV series, which is fine for something like Planet Earth, but doesn't work so well for single item stuff which is still treated as a series with only one item and theoretically needs a Season/Series 1 poster and stuff like that. Could have a Documentaries folder and put series and single items in that - would I set the contents to Unset or whatever its called and would it still get metadata OK ? Also should I even need a Docos folder when I don't have a Comedies folder or an Action folder, etc. Ideas / what works for me ?
aspdend 177 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 the best method I have found is to add them as a series with a season 1 folder etc, even for single documentaries (I have quite a few BBC documentaries) - not great, but works
Emby Tower 34 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 My way is to handle multi part documentaries as series and one-part as a movie, in two different libraries ...
Luke 42083 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 Best thing to do is handle them like any other series.
trifleneurotic 63 Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 (edited) FWIW I just dealt with this a few days ago. I have some that are series, others that are features. I just have a Documentary library now with an Unset media type so I can mix them up. I then set up the folder structure for the documentary depending on if I find it at Thetvdb (series) or Themoviedb (feature). As long as you follow Emby's scheme for naming and organizing each, they seem to coexist just fine. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk Edited April 20, 2017 by landgazr
arrbee99 1817 Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 Thanks guys......Decisions decisions......Might try putting a few in a Docos library and see how it goes, otherwise leave them all as TV series. Does anyone happen to know offhand if Unset media type tries to get any metadata at all.
