Unable to get emby LiveTV working with older style HDHR Dual devices

Im testing this as a plan to move from nextPVR to native emby now that my tuners are supported.

I have the required firmware beta applied as stated in another forum

 

Process :

 

remove nextpvr plugin, restart emby

Add tuners (I have 3 of the HDHR Duals (2 x HDHR3-EU, 1 x HDHR3-DT).  Tuners have fixed IP addresses.  Tuners were working fine in nextpvr.

Add guide xml and refresh guide

Restart emby for clean logs - no others using the system.

 

Go to guide, select a show, click record.  I notice nothing in the recordedTV folder was produced

Wait a few minutes, click on the stop, cancel record

click to recordings, select it and play.

Get an error :

 

 

I have never yet been able to watch any recordings with emby controlling the recording.  I dont think I will attempt to record more than 1, until I can get even one working.

Further to this - I cant even play any live TV either - I just get a spinning graphic on the web (not included int he attached logs as i kept testing more and this was added to the post after)

 

In other session, I have tried setting timers for 6 shows, then waiting, I only even have seen two things in the recorded TV area, none can ever be played.  Each day, I have to roll back to nextPVR for the wifes nightly TV shows so only get a number of hours a day to play with this.

As a side note, I just tried the beta Plex DVR, I dusted off my old Plex install I had hanging around - not used it is ages, (which has been keeping shows up to date I notice), I upgraded it to the latest beta - noticeable differences to the enby implementation were :

 

It auto finds all the HD Homerun Dual tuners (why cant emby do that ?)

It has access to TV guides if you dont have an xmltv (even in australia) - I believe this is a lilcense deal Plex did.

The one thing - It worked straight out of the box

 

I guess there is something I have yet to do in Emby for it to work like this.  Im not saying I am going to jump back to plex after this many years on media browser / Emby (from old xbox days), but their install/config was very polished.

Emby discover did not find any tuners.

 

No transcode log, and must have to transcode this .ts stream - ples in the log I attached it mentions direct play or something - so maybe that is related ?

 

I hope to give it another go later, otherwise, when i get up and before everyone else does.

OK - Just restarted test process again - just added the one tuner, refreshed the xml guide, restarted the emby server, kicked off a recording on one show that was on now, and another to start in 10 minutes after that one.

I can see the first show in recordedTV folder.

Then I noticed it pop into emby as if a new show was added.

emby shows this in the web liveTV - although this should not have completed yet, plus I have 15 min padding - not sure if this is correct :

 

I then waited for the next show to fire off - It did.  I then waited for the 15 min padding on the first show to finish so I could attempt to view it.  Saw just the one active recording, so knew it was done.

 

Clicked on it to view it and  just got the spinning thing (see below circled :

 

 

Attached is the log of all the above activities.  Note - the second recording is still in progress.

 

I did attempt to watch it on the roku, and that started to play it, but it was pixelated, then said loading a few times, before stopping altogether.   I have attached that transcode log to this also.

 

This is the farthest I have got with this however - I have not managed to get this much working so far - so now I will try to add the other tuners to emby and try and record over multiple ones.
