Question about missing episodes

I've been working for a few hours now to import Dark Shadows into my library, the original 1966 series. The problem is the database itself. Whenever the database refreshes, it loads a nother copy of all the episodes and the new copies don't link to any files. They just take up space on the page. This is very frustrating. I have even gone so far as to manually remove them from the database file itself manually and they keep coming back. What is going on? Is there any way to fix this or stop emby from loading shadows of videos that are already in the database?

Whenever someone asks about this, you ask about the directory structure...

D:\TV\Dark Shadows\Season 1\*.mp4

I have all the seasons separated. Emby also does the same thing with Deep Space Nine, it creates shadows of episodes. These shadows make it difficult to tell which ones are real episodes and which ones are duds. :(

Right now, I'm running Emby 3.2.12.0.

Hi, we're sorry to hear about this. First, I think we need to learn more about these shadow entries, and where they might have come from. Can you show a screenshot of both the folder in the file system as well as what you see in the web app? Thanks !

Possibly you just need to turn off the feature to show missing/unaired episodes?

Yes this is possible as well.

AWESOM! Problem solved with Dark Shadows. Thanks for reminding me about the missing episodes toggle. ;)

Just double-checked my Deep Space Nine collection and the problem resolved there as well. What a frustrating issue. It's not a bug and yet it can be a pain in the neck. ;) LOL

Thanks again. :)

Should we just not offer that feature any more?

I think that it might be more effective on a per series basis. Like if you think you have all of the original Star Trek loaded, but aren't positive, click it on for just TOS and boom, you're insecurity is resolved in the issue at hand. Outside of that, for me, it just frustrated me. I had totally forgotten that I had turned it on last year. ;)

Unaired and Missing episodes should have a visual indicator stating such. You have all this technology in Coverart. You could borrow some and add this to the images. Then people know what is what. Heck, even a text indicator on the details page. This page hasn't aired yet, with the project air date instead of the date it was added to the system (which is completely irrelevant). Or text saying it is missing.

All the TV apps have a banner on missing and unaired.  If this is not also in the web app, I think it is just a temporary oversight.

I believe it has been mentioned else where but the banners have been gone for awhile in web client.

I would like a feature where you are watching a series on autoplay you can get a popup when it gets to a missing episode and warns you before playing the next one so you don't get spoilers from the "previously on XXX" recaps. I've had many shows spoiled because of this.

The TV apps also manage this by either doing what you suggest with a message or just stopping playback.  We will get this in the other apps as well.
